What is the worst that could happen?

You annoy some nameless, faceless bureaucrat?

It’s right there in the @simple_sabotage.

Oh, you might get put on a list, but to be fair, that was already the case.

LOL ordered the Geiger counter kit (not that I have any radioactive shrimp, but looked like a fun project). It'll probably give me health anxiety from all the radioactive stuff I likely have around here, ha ha ha. (smoke detectors, granite countertops, some tile glazes, certain other kinds of rocks, vacuum tubes, camping lanterns, microwave oven, drinking water, bananas, fish, beer, peanut butter, potatoes 🤪 ....) #geeky
in reply to AI6YR Ben

yeah, it can definitely make you paranoid. I’ve had a Geiger counter since the 2011 quake (I get a lot of food from my relatives in Japan). I “accidentally” found a significant amount radioactivity coming from random buildings around town, and occasional higher counts outside when the wind is coming from the direction of the Labs (Livermore). There are elevated counts in the house air filter too, but nothing dangerous..yet

I made another TikTok video.

All opinions about autism can be true at the same time. We need to bring love and respect back to the discussion about autism.

I tried to put all of what I said in the alt text but the whole video is over the character limit. I tried.

The one thing I miss about Twitter is, I could find and interact with autistic people with high-support needs, and learn their views on the matter. People who are nonverbal and/or incapable of self-care. I was surprised to learn that the neurodiversity movement was often *stronger* among this group. They didn't want a cure; they wanted acceptance and support.

Most of the fellow autistic people I've met who *did* want a cure came from the low support needs group. We are more likely to be socialized to see our disability as a character flaw or moral failure, something we are held responsible for and expected to "fix". We internalize the ableism that is openly imposed on us, Stockholm syndrome style, because our acceptance is conditioned on conformity. For someone who doesn't have that option, they aren't as likely to be manipulated into siding with their oppressors, I think.

in reply to Aaron

That said... I do think every autistic person -- and every disabled person in general -- has the right to decide for themselves whether to see their condition has a hindrance they want removed, or a part of their personhood. We all deserve that level of agency over our own lives.
in reply to Aaron

I, for one, will never bow my head to the neurotypical hegemony. I have a right to be who I am, and I will stand proudly with that decision.
in reply to Aaron

@hosford42 I saw recently a survey for autistic people and among the options there were many (don’t remember the %) answers identifying themselves as high need.

I think there are several sub groups of us that don’t interact with each other probably to time zones and/or different # and it’s a real shame.

@AutisticInnovator I love your above post so much. I wish deeply that non autists, including health professionals, stopped using profound or severe autism but rather autism and ID. And even like that it’s still so restrictive...

Anyway I saw again an article recently “a non verbal autistic wrote a symphony!“ People were shocked! 🤦🏻‍♀️

👆🏼👏🏼👌🏼 This. 1000%. Internalised ableism is a huge problem. Internalised oppression not only harms ourselves but weaponises us to harm other autistics and all other marginalised groups too.

Jimmy Kimmel soared in the ratings Tuesday with 6.2 million viewers, according to early figures from Nielsen that do not yet include streaming.

That’s nearly four times bigger than his usual audience, even though Sinclair and Nexstar (who own more than 20 percent of ABC affiliates) boycotted the show. The monologue also has 15 million YouTube views.

Burnout is real, and we're all overwhelmed with *gestures at everything* so don't forget to set aside some self-care time!

How did Kremlin react to Trump's recent statements about the Russo-Ukrainian war?

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov blamed Zelenskyy for influencing Trump's assessment during their UN meeting.

♦️Trump: "I think Ukraine, with the support of the European Union, is in a position to fight and WIN all of Ukraine back in its original form."

Peskov called Trump's assertion "erroneous," arguing that "the dynamics on the fronts speaks more than eloquently" against Ukrainian success.⤵️

in reply to Euromaidan Press

♦️Trump: "Putin and Russia are in BIG Economic trouble, and this is the time for Ukraine to act."

Peskov maintained that Russia fights to "ensure security" and blamed Europeans and the previous US administration for failing to understand Moscow's concerns.

The laziness of it is so real. It's not just that they didn't do the groundwork on manpower, it's that they don't do any work at all. It relates to Trump's Power of Positive Thinking stuff, they think they can just wishfully speak their power consolidation into being.

The ONLY reason any of this works is because everyone is handing victory to them. The media reprints their lies credulously, the universities let them set curriculum, SCOTUS and congress have utterly abdicated their oversight duties.

The moment institutions start saying "no" is the moment it crumbles. These people are not serious, they are not hardworking, they are not smart. They are coasting on luck, and institutional cowardice. The moment institutions stop enabling them, they will fold like cheap camp chairs.
