@TinJar - I like the term "protopia". A protopian outlook understands dystopia and seeks to attain a "pragmatic utopia" within the constraints of real life, human nature, and technologic limitations.
It's not pie in the sky.
But it does ask what can realistically be achieved in the short, medium, and long term as it relates to decreasing suffering and increasing quality of life and social justice.

"human nature", so you think there is one? because I think we are quite malleable as a species, especially with the advent of gene editing and cybernetic enhancements, I think such items proves our capacity for escaping our own "nature", whatever that is (humans are already quite diverse, so that's another reason to doubt the existence of a strictly human nature)
