@hosford42 as an erstwhile mathematician now herding bugs for a living I wholeheartedly agree that mathematics (my 1st career) and coding (my predominant and current career) are artistic endeavours.
You don't just look for the solution.. you strive to find the ELEGANT solution. The equation/code that not only succinctly solves the problem at hand but does so in a precise and agreeable manner that borders on beauty.
It's a hard task to explain beauty in the context of math/code to a layman (and heaven knows I've tried) .. I usually direct them to Eulers identity e^ipi + 1 = 0. Precious few get it.

Mathematicians occasionally uses "tack" symbols, ⊥ and ⊤, for various purposes. They're called that because they look like thumb-tacks from the side. But if you need a particular tack, what do you call it? Is "⊥" the "up" tack, because the pointy bit is up? Or is "⊤" the "up" tack, because it's the normal, safe orientation for using a thumb-tack?
Today I learned that not only do people disagree about this, the two approaches are delightfully named the "London" and "Bosworth" conventions.
Even better, the symbols in Unicode were initially named according to the Bosworth convention, then renamed to the London convention, BUT NOT ALL OF THEM! So U+234E APL FUNCTIONAL SYMBOL DOWN TACK JOT is actually an up-tack, and vice-versa. Nothing can ever be simple. 😀

@taylorhayis ugh. No fun allowed. There was a thrift store I had to stop shopping at because it made my blood boil: they had their e-waste visible from the the sales floor and it was always stacked with crt tvs and monitors they would not even try to sell, but also would refuse if asked. 
I generally don’t care for seeing more parking wastelands in city limits, but I wasn’t the least bit upset when I learned the strip mall they were in was bought by the city and leveled to make more parking for the stadium across the street.
I was a bit miffed to see the retail chain in question pop up with a new location much closer to my house a few months later… until I decided to check it out shortly after opening day and walked out with an Apple crt monitor. Wonder what changed.
Told them in a meeting and they were cool with it.
