Pennsylvania's $1.1 billion #mushroom industry faces a critical labor shortage as #immigration policies tighten. Growers may struggle to meet demand. And that could lead to higher prices for consumers: buff.ly/v9BcMVq

Non-dog question (you've all been very helpful in these questions recently): can anyone recommend some earbuds?

My current ones are on the way out and although I'd really like to keep the Fairbuds I'm trying, they've got a few too many problems to overlook. This is disappointing because buying something that will inevitably become e-waste is bad.

Not Airpods or Pixel Buds Pro, and good ANC is quite important.

Thanks!

in reply to Hops the sausage dog

I'm quite happy with my Galaxy Buds although the silicone tips like to pop off somewhat regularly. (I also got them as a work Christmas gift so they were free). The ANC is really good though. I use them daily.

This is what many cities in the U.S. looked like before the EPA.

Why the heck would anyone celebrate deregulating it?

I love the #fediverse.

We've been living through this strange world for 2 decades where we let several large corporations convince us that disintermediation of your friends and acquaintances was a desirable outcome.

We let them monetize our FOMO and social nature.

The best thing ever to happen is birdsite being bought and torched. Sure it was a shame.

I much prefer a universe where NO ONE own social networks.

Because they never actually did in the first place. ✊

Stopped at the grocery store on the way home from work, remembered that I will need some postcards for Saturday's anti-Trump mailing, and looked over the collection. Lots of Rochester-themed postcards, pictures of the Lilac Fest, the Eastman House, etc. Then I found exactly the right cards! One Frederick Douglass, and one Susan B. Anthony! Paired with some rabble-rousing postage stamps, (I still have a few John Lewis stamps), and they should hit just the note I want. With a strong enough written message, even a blank postcards would have served. But I like the idea of the postcard itself also speaking!

i just realised the question i asked is nearly impossible to actually do without invoking more real dimensions thank you for the insight

No worries!

Sidenote: apparently Steven Hawking could think about physics problems in like 9 or 10 dimensions or something, I definitely cannot!

ICE Fascists claim they "don't make arrests at sensitive locations like hospitals."

Last week MAGA was outraged that people didn't cheer for a 13-year-old child who survived brain cancer.

This week ICE fascists deported a 10-year-old child & US citizen who survived brain cancer.

Absolute nazis.

I have basically spent this entire day taking VR helmets on and off and each time measuring sizes and distances of things using a tape measure to make sure that two different versions of some VR software are identical and it feels *very silly* but also the tape measure seems to be very effective
in reply to slembcke

@slembcke well what I mean is the hands don't measure distances by themselves.

In our case we were running into bug reports of people not being able to reach things when wearing just the one headset. We were a bit baffled since like... they all seemed to produce the same "virtual" dimensions correctly.

It was environmental factors. It's always environmental factors. -_-

Tammy Duckworth tried to get USDA funds released for WI dairy farmers but no one would take her calls. Rep van Orden got them released and is cited as the person responsible.

Jesus Christ (no pun intended) I followed some of his activities in the early days of the web. Then he and John Dvorak started a podcast and Curry was going down the loony tunes path with “don’t carry a phone, use an iPod touch on WiFi only”, and then prior to the 2016 election, I had to stop listening.

Seems he’s gone full batshit crazy.

Hey, folks? Social Security and Medicare are called "entitlements" BECAUSE you've paid into them your whole life. You're *entitled* to them. They belong to you. You hold *title* to them.

"Entitlement" ≠ "welfare." But over the last half-century, Republican propagandists have succeeded in changing the meaning of the word.

Setting up Nginx Proxy Manager was easier than I thought! A few hurdles at first (longer blog post in the works) but I got it all working without much issue.

I am seeing things timeout every now and then but it seems a common problem so hopefully I can get that fixed.

I also managed to get docker running Nginx Proxy Manager on a Raspberry Pi, which had a few challenges but I think I've cleared all the hurdles.

The main issue was no clear direction on getting Docker and the container to startup at boot. Lots of forum post reading on that topic.
