It's no coincidence that alt-right people have taken up AI generated artwork so intensely. It allows bypassing all the ethics and care of typically left-leaning artists. To show the ability to wield aesthetics without the social values tied to those aesthetics is a power move.

@vv They are actually, that's the problem. They know how to use convolution. It's not a creative act. They can read text from images, and write text into images (it used to look scrambled but they can do it better now) and they can also draw a picture of a cat. They are the same LLM things

"Large language models" isn't a good term for image generating neural network approaches, please stop using "LLMs" to describe them. 😛
There's a very particular type of person who becomes 'alt-right.' They lack all creativity, any significant inner dialogue, and what we usually mistake for a 'lack of empathy' is literally a lack of imagination. These are people who ONLY change their tune through direct experience; otherwise, they are incapable of imagining being someone else.
Use of AI 'art' is just a symptom of what is, ultimately, the central characteristic of the 'alt-right': a complete lack of imagination.

Been thinking a lot about AI and its pros and cons. People are misusing it and making it worse at the end. Anyways, cut it short - we will get tired of purely (and poorly) AI content. The only thing which it can't reproduce is creativity.
Talking from my pain point - fake crochet and knitting pattern images. Still, people can't see the difference and awing to AI generated content. It was fun at the beginning, but now it makes me anxious.

Theres a cultural disconnect between the artist producing the content and the reactionaries consuming them. Like most creatives I know are heavily leftist and often members of marginalized groups. Yet, when their work shares their experiences it becomes an object of evil for the reactionaries. They want the final producr stripped of the artist identity and empty shell that they may fill their own vile hatred into. Works that they couldn’t critically think enough to create.
While I agree with your point and your concerns it is worth noting that AI generated artwork has been used by freedom orientated activists.
For example, the wedding scene preceding the film, The People's Joker was an exemplary (albeit crude) approach at satire as a means of appropriating cultural markers.
