Very hectic couple of weeks but it's 22:00 on a work day and I think I've finally cleared enough higher priority stuff of my plate that I can work on Ethernet switch stuff again for the first time in... I don't even know how long it's been.

Wow. Interesting story, but fascinating for #psychology students and experts alike, I'm sure:

This one started off with the following rubbish "You don't need to be welcomed to your own country".

It's not my country anyway, it belongs to the Ngunawal / Ngambri people and there is nothing wrong with welcome to country!

Sometimes I am not sure where my brain takes me, as was the thing when I discovered I wanted to recreate Henry 8ths famous outfit.

Everything made and machine embroidered by me. Silk, velvet and fake fur.

3d printed dagger to match

I have an idea for the next one.. a slightly more elaborate 😛

small biz as a demographic supported Trump because they thought it was more important to deny my family health care than to make money

i will weep no tears for small biz as a demographic

individuals who happen to have a small business & who also voted for Kamala exist & I am one of them but let's not pretend small biz *as a demographic* isn't reaping karma for their actions in supporting the GOP over multiple decades

#WritersCoffeeClub 29 Have you ever written anything that didn't age well?

Not precisely, but I _did_ write something that has aged very _uncomfortably_.

In my 2022 book "Lurkers at the Threshold", I added a travel warning for regions of Germany where the fascist #AfD had received more than 20% of the vote. Now, after the 2025 federal elections, this covers much of the country.

I am not going to take these words back, and will likely repeat them in future volumes. But it is depressing how much obviously worse my home country has become in the last few years.

in reply to Legit_Spaghetti

@Legit_Spaghetti

That doesn't explain the number of voting districts in "Western Germany" who went hard for the AfD.

in reply to Jürgen Hubert

It doesn't, but those have a much simpler explanation: xenophobic racists. Part of my family is from some of those deep blue spots on your map. I know how they vote and why, and it ain't about the economy.

Former Japanese PM: Japan should redefine its position and role in Asia instead of aligning with the US – World byteseu.com/967823/ #Japan

sigh.

TheConversation: People who aren’t legal experts are more willing to rely on legal advice provided by ChatGPT than by real lawyers – at least, when they don’t know which of the two provided the advice. That’s the key finding of our new research, which highlights some important concerns about the way the public increasingly relies on AI-generated content. We also found the public has at least some ability to identify whether the advice came from ChatGPT or a human lawyer.

in reply to Hippy Steve

I have found significant blind trust in AI by people I know (who will admit to using AI). The reason is these folks judge trustworthiness by CONFIDENCE LEVEL. The AI is ALWAYS VERY CONFIDENT, so they believe the AI. (also... that's how the US got into this fascist mess, IMHO... that, and our unfortunate racism).
in reply to AI6YR Ben

@ai6yr ah. maybe that's why I'm so resistant to it. I don't trust people that are always confident. lol.
