Reports I've read say that over 2,000 protests have been planned for No Kings day today, as the person in the White House stages his birthday military spectacle.
Also planned for the day: intimidation. Supporters of the person in the White House are issuing threats about using force to suppress protest: e.g., Brevard County, Florida, sheriff Wayne Ivey, who promises that "we" "will kill you graveyard dead" if you get rowdy when you protest.
"Republicans are in full panic mode over the protests and are rolling out a show of force to intimidate citizens from exercising their first amendment rights. Gov. Greg Abbott said he is deploying 5,000 Texas National Guard troops and 2,000 state police to assist local law enforcement in policing the protests."

… The ‘No Kings’ protests of Trump are gearing up around the country tomorrow as millions are expected to be a part of the largest demonstrations yet against the authoritarian MAGA movement.
Matt Labash takes a dim view of what "our aspiring dictator, who like other dictators the world over (some of whom he has exchanged 'love letters' with)" has planned for today:
"[He] thinks that politicizing our military and parading soldiers and hardware through the streets makes him the winner of a dick-measuring contest. And in a sense, it does. how big of one he has, but how big of one he is."
Jennifer Rubin reports on veterans and military officials denouncing Trump's attempt to make the military his own goon squad to attack Americans exercising their free-speech rights. They include retired Major General Randy Manner, former Acting Vice Chief of the National Guard Bureau.
Manner states that Trump “absolutely is trying to intimidate the average peaceful demonstrator, because most of those demonstrators are actually peaceful.”
Manner also notes,
"A duly elected governor is elected by the people to guide the state, protect the people. And unfortunately, here we have a federal authority coming in and suppressing that governor and the people of a particular state.”
Trump's deployment of armed forces to suppress citizens' free speech and undermine the authority of their duly elected leaders constitute one serious problem. Another is this:
“[W]hat is the impact on readiness for the entire military when we start taking large formations like this out of the existing infrastructure?”
"The US flag does not belong to the military, the Army, the Navy, the Marines, or the National Guard. It does not belong to Republicans, MAGA extremists, or white supremacists. It does not represent America’s mythological past that is the object of the hate-fueled motto, 'Make America Great Again.'
