It's been years since I've spoken publicly, but today I felt called to speak my mind at the #NoKings solidarity protest here in #Porto #Portugal

Instead of a customary recreational ride, I rode my #ebike to a city park where the #NoKings rally was taking place; several thousand folks were there. Then I rode to the local #Juneteenth celebration which was heavily attended because of the rally and march. Afterwards I ran an errand and headed home for a total of 12 miles. This afternoon there is a family ride and open house for a local organization that repurposes donated bikes for folks in need.

It seems like we exited two decades of constant war without learning a single gotdam thing about war.
Going to war with Iran will 1) be incredibly - like, existentially - unpopular in both the US and Europe, 2) cannot result in victory, since Iran is the victim of Israeli aggression and there's no definable *goal* here except "kill Iranians", and 3) will force other powers in the region and the world to take sides.
And not all of them will take the side we think.

Saturday started just before 7am.
It’s been another fairly peaceful day, sunny with the occasional shower.
Watched ‘6 Days’ about the storming of the Iranian Embassy in London in 1980 this evening, a decent movie.
Final Thoughts.
Watching the news about the events in the USA & the Middle East I wonder how long our little nook here in deepest, darkest Yorkshire will remain the essentially peaceful & tranquil place it currently is.
