Have you ever “killed off” a character in a story that you later regretted saying goodbye to?
Only once have I killed off a character 'on screen', everyone else who has died in my stories has been people the reader never actually meets.
For instance, Lefeng's first family was alive when the story started, but died while ey was away from home, so we never get to meet eir family. So it doesn't really feel like 'killing off' a character. There was no 'saying goodbye' involved.
The one time I killed off a character... well, I won't spoiler, but that death had been planned from almost the moment i conceived of the story and it just makes too much sense in context. No, I don't regret it.
