If you want to help scientists, call your reps about funding science and funding universities. That is essentially the biggest action that's a real action that most people can take.
And/or, share an actual scientist's actual work. Stop being an armchair observer and be a participatory member of this human society if you care so much. Scientists aren't vending machines for you, they're just people. Find the things they're struggling with and find a way to help.
