On 17 November 1950 MacArthur told U.S. Ambassador to South Korea John J. Muccio, "Unfortunately, this area will be left a desert." By "this area" MacArthur meant the entire area between "our present positions and the border".

Complex social dynamics are really hard to measure, especially from an individual point of view
For that to be useful I'd have to convince somebody that their opinion / feeling of safety is actually incorrect ... which is the thing I asked in the first place.
@EndlessMason - that's what I'm saying.. You don't say anything about their feeling being incorrect because their feelings are just feelings.
"Feeling scared makes total sense because of how much we hear about crime in the media and how much politicians use that fear to push for votes.. but what they don't want us to know is that the strongest drivers of crime are things like poverty, which they could totally do something about but choose not to. That's why I started looking at the actual crime statistics and worked out that it's happening much less often than the media talks about."
