Another aspect of the housing crisis:

For newly qualified teachers & nurses living in a flat share is often the only viable option; across England in around half of Council areas, a one-bedroom flat is unaffordable on their pay.

If you want to retain newly qualified staff, they need to be able to move from a model of student accommodation (a shared house) to something reflecting their privacy & welfare needs... we need better (affordable) housing for key workers.

I was afraid this would happen someday, so I took my solar panel installation off the WiFi. No more pretty pictures on how much power I generated, but the solar panels work fine without.

DeepSeek wasn't any better. It created like 5 massive paragraphs of text when I asked it to compare two models of graphic card. And all those paragraphs contained NOTHING useful. Just bunch of hypothetical comparisons that I could make up out of my ass.

I translated an article on Bernard of Clairvaux from the original Klingon (German) to English for a pastor friend of mine. He needed it for his PhD thesis. I learned about a fascinating piece of church history and theology. Fun was had by all!

Now that the Ten Hundred is wrapped up, it's time to get back to some projects that have been languishing in its shade. Like the labyrinth waffle, the purported reason I got the pantograph mill! I've been redoing the CAD, starting with a model for the plate which I can actually machine, and then differencing out the waffle face it would produce.
Two disks, one grey and one golden, each with a pattern of concentric rings and radial lines debossed into its top surface. The golden one is the inverse of the grey one. It has a central cavity which one could imagine filling with maple syrup, which it connected to the outside via a single, labyrinthine passage which doubles back on itself many times.

Fun labyrinth trick: any connected maze (you know, right hand rule works) and be turned into a labyrinth by putting a wall down the middle of the corridor, where your other hand would be as you follow the wall with your right hand.

I could see turning a maze into a labyrinth going very easy tracing with a pantograph.
