@yngmar @Ovidijus yeah, it's a common phrase from old car markets "tokių metų taip ėjo", there are some car trading folklore, slowly fading with markets. I believe every country have some "car driving by grandma only to the church" sayings, some are international, some got better localisation.

@yngmar @Ovidijus oh, it's because you don't look dangerous. With bandit looking guys such sellers do "idk car, i just drove to here, look by yourself" things 😂

In 1976, Sesame Street had a segment in rotation called “Pinball Number Count.” The music is captivating, hopping between 4/4, 4/3, and 5/4 time signatures. And the animation is bursting with color and life. It has forever lived in my head.

Fun fact 1: the song counts to 12, but there were only 11 segments.

Fun fact 2: the vocals were provided by The Pointer Sisters.

I always *loved* the pinball segments as a kid, both for the clever animation, but also the super-catchy music. I can still hear the sax part for number 7 in my head if I think about it.

There were also "Baker number" segments from 1 to 10, each of which ended with a baker at the top of a set of stairs, announcing a treat ("four rootbeer floats!" I remember well—except they they were all clearly Kermit's voice, hence Jim Henson), then the baker falling down the stairs. I still sometimes do top-of-stairs announcements in that style.

I should specify that my intention was to go full cv. No midi, just voltages. That would raise the bar on hacking dexed which has held me back.
in reply to poetaster

Part of the problem is defining what a CV ought to be controlling in a polyphonic, multi-parameter, digital synth, especially when in this case it is effectively 8 digital synths too.

I don't have a good answer really... one reason I've not tried to do a CV to MIDI module yet. Going the other way is fairly easy, but CVs could be made to do so many things...

in reply to diyelectromusic

i wanted to keep it simple. CV in the sense of, note (voct), gate for gate, at and velocity.
in reply to diyelectromusic

I only ever use a single voice at a time, so that makes me... Er ... Simple.

Finally finished the build guide and design for my MiniDexed EuroRack module.

Definitely still a prototype and definitely still not for use in anything but a sacrificial system.

Plenty I could be doing to make it better, but it is probably at the "good enough to lose interest" stage for me now 😀

My “not a book review” of Careless People – the book Facebook doesn’t want you to read.

With highlights on Ireland’s complicity and the lengths people farmers (as I call them) will go to to appease authoritarian regimes like China.

ar.al/2025/03/21/careless-peop…

It’s clear from this that Ireland should be stripped of the authority to enforce GDPR and, really, people farmers – and the business model of people farming in general – should be banned in the EU.

(Don’t hold your breaths.)
