A first trace of organizing appears in the messy workshop/garage barn. Still so much to do and then redo it several times over before it resembles anything I actually want.
But it's a multi-step process, this climbing of the workshop tech tree. Build crap workshop to build a better workshop with.
Ancient farmhouse furniture has many lives. Once it's kicked out of the house, it just goes into a barn. This one has been patched several times already.

To move forward with converting the folding bike to electric, I've needed a pair of 20-inch aluminum rims. No one local is selling or giving any away on Craigslist, and i feel bad about the idea of buying a used bike just to take its wheels.
So I've been riding our local river paths for the last couple weeks looking for rims. Today, i finally found a pair that will work.
The River doth provide to those who remain faithful.
@scruss It was in very rough shape when I got it. It was missing the lower bearing cup from the head tube. The fork was bent and the threads were stripped. The knob on the nut that holds the two halves together was also missing. So were the handle bars.
I fabricated a new fork for it out of a bmx fork I found by the river and a piece I made on the lathe. I made a new handle for the nut on the lathe.
The reason I want aluminum rims on it is because if I'm going to motorize it, I want to be able to stop reasonably well, which chrome rims just don't do
you're preaching to the choir about chrome rims. I was a paperboy in very rainy Glasgow on chrome rims, and braking was best described as ... eventually

Die Idee, die Module als Überdachung zu nutzen, kam spontan, weil die Anschlüsse am Dach für mein Setup nicht passten.
Für die Skizzen habe ich #Excalidraw, #Blender, #FreeCAD verwendet und #Nextcloud für die Planung.
Die ersten Diskussionen zu Design, Größe und Material kamen schnell. Eine gute Skizze war dabei hilfreich.
Besonders geholfen hat mir das viele Kommunizieren und das Feedback erfahrener Leute, u. a. hier auf Mastodon!

Glücklicher Weise, konnte ich mein Vorhaben mit einem Architekten besprechen. Dieser gab mir entscheidende Tipps - doch dazu später mehr.

Die Entscheidung fiel auf eine Holzkonstruktion – aus folgendem Grund: Ich besitze alle notwendigen Werkzeuge für die Fertigstellung und bin somit unabhängig von externen Handwerkern.
Bei der Frage nach dem Fundament haben wir uns für ein Schraubfundament (100cm) der Fa. #Maxerio entschieden – ein Tipp vom Architekten, nachdem er meine Konstruktion und den Untergrund begutachtet hatte.

Die Module sind jetzt angebracht und provisorisch angeschlossen. Morgen bringe ich die restlichen Kopfbänder an und baue die X-Konstruktion wieder ab. Anschließend messe ich die noch offenen Bereiche aus und bestelle passende Polycarbonat-Platten, um die Fläche komplett abzudecken.

Am Freitag kamen endlich die Polycarbonatplatten an. Heute haben wir sie montiert – so sieht das Ganze jetzt fertig aus. Es fehlen nur noch ein paar Details wie eine Regentonne und die Beleuchtung.
