Eugh, I’m having a really hard time visualising the #3dprinted enclosure for my seven segment clock project. Can’t quite decide how to take it to the next level. #1segrgb

I feel your pain. Trying to envisage anything 3d always fills me with inadequacy!
in reply to Michael Horne

@recantha yeah, I recently came to realise I have something called "Aphantasia" which is where you can't physically see things in your mind. It means my 3d design process requires a lot of test prints just to figure out how one thing works with another in real space. How I ever ended up working as a designer is beyond me!

Half of business owners on this Toronto street estimated that more than 25% of their customers arrived by car. In fact, it was 4%. And the % of customers who who walked or cycled? 72%. Retailers routinely overestimate the # of “car customers.” Via @carltonreid.com www.forbes.com/sites/carlto...

This is sick as hell and deserves more attention:

I don't think I've ever seen that done before, which means everyone making futuristic credit sequences in the 1970s missed a *major* trick! Also, what a great tool for understanding signal processing.

in reply to Matthew Dockrey

maybe I'm wrong but without the compute and libraries and standards and standard hardware interfaces we have today, you'd need to build an analogue tool first to record the writing of that waveform and then replay it very fast...
in reply to mmby

@mmby True. I could be wrong, but I think that should be possible with a Fourier transform and some oscillators, but maybe not easily to that crispness. The earliest video games were all done by drawing onto an oscilloscope just like this, though, so the idea wouldn't have been utterly foreign to them.

Well, at the very least #Trump is doing wonders for the German defense industry, as lots of European countries (a) seek to increase their military spending and (b) try their best to get away from fickle American supply lines... 😔

Rheinmetall has a lot looking good for (its upcoming profits).

First off, the Ukraine war has massively boosted demand for their wares.

Second, Trump has made it more likely they need to boot USA bases and/or not rely on them.

Third, Leopard 2 and upcoming variants like the next generation Leopard 2a RC3.0 really make the Leopard 2 platform just plain more flexible for different country's needs - including better than USA.

Leopard 2 and Skyranger are particularly needed.

in reply to Jürgen Hubert

All the Rheinmetall boss has to worry about now is not being assassinated by Russian agents.

Funny how informational security is so much less important to the NYTimes now than it was in late 2016.

It turns out, as always, that your social media posts are public. ActivityPub features that attempt to set any other expectations for users are wrong and should maybe be considered a vulnerability in and of themselves. #ActivityPub #privacy #Pixelfed #Mastodon

yikes! This is bad, but also I kinda think the way DMs work in the activitypub protocol is a joke and we should either just not have it or fix it
