Goodnight Mastodon. β™₯️

we actually getting a federated tiktok before gta6

#loops πŸš€

remember when I asked for a replacement for #disqus and then ranted about how none of the available solutions would also integrate with #mastodon?

Well shit. I did it again and scratched my own itch and barfed out another open source project.

Introducing: Meh..

splitbrain.org/blog/2025-03/26…

* single install serves as many sites as you want
* can be used in static websites (it's lightweight web components in the frontend)
* imports Disqus
* fetches Mastodon replies as comments
* supports different languages (so far en, fr, es, de)
* probably has bugs

in reply to Dan Fixes Coin-Ops

it does now, but only accidentally.

I did some changes in how I handle replies and that meant that I had to delete and reimport all mastodon posts. Normally the system would not pick up edits after the first import (unless the edit gets a new ID, which I hope it does not).

What the hell is this new β€œgold adjusted” stuff added the the Atlanta Fed’s GDPNow forecast. Smells like Trump ordered them to make the economy look better. atlantafed.org/cqer/research/g…
in reply to Hippy Steve

Not likely. Powell has already rebuffed trump over lowering interest rates.
in reply to SpaceLifeForm

@SpaceLifeForm

Adding a meaningless metric is a lot different than changing a major economic lever.

The tears were welling up when I took the tower down this evening. :sad_cat:

All down. Didn’t take too much effort thanks to the tilt plate. Just some wiggling and a dead blow hammer to get the job done.

Still sobbing over it. ☹️

Danish travel company Albatros ends all travel to the US. Chairman Rasmussen:

"We sincerely love the US and its people, and look forward to returning once the US elects a leadership of decency, respect and responsibility.

When Trump explains his aggression towards Greenland with security, he reveals himself as a compulsive liar.

Trump and his cronies' treatment of president Zelenskyy, the hideous pressure on Ukraine and the indecent cowering to the Russian psychopath speaks for itself."

in reply to Randahl Fink

Beyond what I said before… is it even true? Here’s me about to book travel to New York on their site: albatros.dk/rejser/new-york-ne…
in reply to Aral Balkan

@aral yes it is. He said they would honor the agreements they had already made with some girls in the US, but they would not make new deals.

I think that is only fair.

in reply to Randahl Fink

this is not quite true. They're ending *marketing* of trips to the US. It's still possible to book them, they just won't run ads.

I once interviewed a security professional and asked them how they locked down their whole family's security when things like 2FA and yubikeys were tricky to use and they admitted most of their immediate family didn't do those things and I realized that holy shit, bad actors must go after *everyone* connected to high level security people

A threat actor called "SWAGEDGE" is replying to new posts on mastodon.social
The account being used in these attacks was created today (26 March 2025, UTC).
All of the posts made by this threat actor are identical, and it posts them in rapid succession, so it is highly likely this is automated.

You should see how that wretch Marjorie Taylor Greene spoke to a UK reporter. Just absolutely shameful, which is something she cannot experience.

NASA sidelines Cygnus spacecraft after damage in transit to launch site
"Following initial evaluation, there also is damage to the cargo module."
arstechnica.com/space/2025/03/…
in reply to Ars Technica

>NASA is now almost entirely reliant on SpaceX's Falcon 9 rocket and Dragon spacecraft to get its astronauts to the space station and to feed them

Given Elon Musk's stated position that the ISS should just be de-orbited now, that seems like a bad position to be in.

in reply to Ars Technica

How do things like this keep happening? Accidents? Potholes? Mechanical failures? Human error? Wish we were given more details on these damaged space components...
