Yogi Berra once said about a popular club "It's so crowded, nobody goes there anymore . . ."

arstechnica.com/ai/2025/03/dev…

Well shit. The other day I was doing what I thought would be cosmetic work on Blue Biscay's rudder. Grinding off some sloppily applied epoxy of an old repair, maybe reinforcing a bit, fairing etc before applying the coppercoat.

What I found was a big crack around the rudder post. To even diagnose the extent of the problem let alone fix it means dropping the rudder. Either digging a hole (there's a metaphor there) or lifting the boat with a crane. The crane is only here twice a year and will come in April. It was always going to be tight and a lot of intense work in the coming month, including helping to get Hale Kai ready, but this is too much.

So, another year in the yard. I hope I don't turn into that stereotype. But long term plans won't bear rushing something this important.

Very disappointing.

The image depicts a fantasy character with elf-like features, including pointed ears. The character has blonde hair with purple highlights and blue eyes. They are wearing a purple glove on their left hand and a blue and brown outfit with metallic shoulder armor. The character is holding a set of bagpipes, which are brown with silver accents and have tassels at the ends. The background is a gradient of dark blue to purple, with a misty, ethereal quality, suggesting a nighttime or mystical setting. The character's posture is upright, and they appear to be looking slightly upwards. The image is a digital illustration with a high level of detail, showcasing the character's attire and accessories.

seen from the outside he's not doing a bad move. Delocalisation has only given the illusion that we can all be rich while pushing poverty and exploitation far away, out of sight. Now that it's become painfully apparent that so-called poor Countries literally controls what we get to import and when people are waking up

Even if it were what they want to think it is, which it isn't, it wouldn't prove what they want to think it proved.

Even if trans women always worked in the goofy way they describe, which they do not, but even if they did who cares? Why does it matter?

This is like the whole: "Is being gay a CHOICE?"

I mean, probably not. However, even if it were, that has no bering on the questions of sin and morality at play here.

in reply to myrmepropagandist

@futurebird
Reminds of when Rush Limbaugh said something like liberals are fine with any sex as long as it’s consensual.

He actually got it and stated it accurately (while condemning “consent” culture).

Morality is involved if my actions cause harm to another.

My kids identifying as Pan (twin A) or nonbinary (twin B) is of no concern to me because it causes no harm to them or others.

One of their friends went from bi to gay to bi between 12-16 literally no one cares.

🤦🏿‍♂️*Deep sigh* No. I'm just saying (again) that you can't fight your own wallet.

I'm saying that if you go to a protest and are beaten by private security, that you paid for some of that private security. You Pinkerton-ed yourself.

Elon is not the richest man in the world because he sells the most cars. He doesn't sell nearly enough cars to be that rich.

Elon is the richest man in the world, because a lot of people (like you! 🤡) own his stocks.

The easiest person for you to convince to own less of that stock, is yourself.

in reply to mekka okereke

Tesla makes incredible electric cars... for the year 2017. Now, they are years behind. The stock is overvalued as hell. I wouldn't touch it.
in reply to Administrator

@mdm No, they make shitty Android-quality tablets full of spyware with a shitty half-ass car attached as an afterthought. There has never been *anything* incredible about Teslas. Car people do not like them. Environmentalists do not like them. Only dumbass techno-futurist douchebros like them.

If, like me, you don't actively manage your retirement fund, it can be intimidating to log in and try to figure out where your money is actually parked and how to move it. It took me well over an hour of navigating around until I figured out how I could divest from the part of my portfolio that includes Tesla. But in the end, I'm much more comfortable knowing that it's done, and I feel pretty good reinvesting internationally, given the way the world seems to be going.

doesn't Proton and Yen support Trump? Isn't this going to be a problem?

They also just stopped using the Fediverse for being called out for this. It just feels like a badly timed partnership.

The image depicts a character standing in a snowy, mystical environment. The character is dressed in dark, elaborate armor with fur trimmings, including a long coat and a belt. They hold a large, glowing blue axe in their right hand. The character's attire and the glowing axe suggest a connection to ice or frost magic. The background features a blue-toned landscape with a crescent moon and silhouettes of trees, enhancing the mystical atmosphere. Additionally, there are ghostly figures in the background, one of which appears to be a wizard-like figure with a beard, adding to the fantasy setting. The overall color palette is dominated by blues and blacks, contributing to the cold and magical ambiance.

Texas GOP Lawmakers Propose Amending Abortion Ban Linked to Deaths and a Rise in Sepsis Cases

The bill comes after ProPublica’s reporting on the deaths of three Texas women. It specifies that doctors don’t need to wait until an emergency is “imminent” to terminate pregnancies but leaves in steep penalties for those who violate the law.

Isn't it embarrassing to be manipulated like this?
