"Facebook and Instagram have a subscription service in most of Europe, where users can pay monthly so that they don't get ads on the platform."
This does not mean in any way that your data is not being harvested anyway. And only Meta knows what they will then do with it or who they will sell it on to.
All the User is paying for is for THEM to not see the ads specifically from META.

The image is a two-panel meme featuring a character with blue hair and raccoon-like features. In the first panel, the character appears cheerful and excited, with wide eyes and a big smile. The text reads, "Murderhobo PCs after slaughtering an innocent Tavern Keeper." In the second panel, the character looks shocked and terrified, with wide eyes and hands pressed against their face. The text reads, "Murderhobo PCs when his severed head sprouts spider legs and darts off, across a wall and through the window." The character's expression changes from happy to scared, emphasizing the humorous contrast between the two scenarios.

The CDC Buried a Measles Forecast That Stressed the Need for Vaccinations
β€”

The move β€” along with the CDC’s explanation β€” is a sign that the nation’s top public health agency may be falling in line under HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., a longtime critic of vaccines.

in reply to ProPublica

Before RFKJr got his confirmation, the CDC was compromised. In 2023 they were pulling back on warnings about new Covid19 variants, and signs that childhood illnesses were making a comeback.
Some red states actually shut down their childhood immunisation programs, along with Covid vaccinations as a 'so there, πŸ‘…' to Biden. Very adult, I'm sure. But there is no doubt that having a brain-worm-killing, anti-science, anti-vax numpty in charge of *health* the US is going to suffer, and children will die in the millions.

Hello fellow humans! I'm considering starting out all of my electronic communications with "Hey fuckers" so you all know it's not an AI.

(Eh, eventually they'll teach the AI to swear and even that won't work anymore.)

Anyway, I was looking up how to add composite video to a Raspberry Pi Zero, and I found an article (which I will not link) that claimed to show me how to do it.

A few paragraphs in, this obviously AI generated line art shows up and I realized I was taken for a fool.

in reply to John Wilson

"Sup fuckers" is a classic opening line which may be liberally applied as an icebreaker to a variety of social situations.

1) I feel like this will work for a short time, until you train the AI's to begin messages similarly "What up my bitches?!"
2) I'm concerned about the slippery slope to "Death to all humans!"

in reply to Melissa BearTrix

Supermarkets are going to accidentally reinvent the staffed checkout by making the self-checkouts such a nightmare to use the customer always ends up needing intervention from staff anyway.

(Personally I use the scan as you go around and put stuff straight in the bag. Then just pay and get out of there. Much less hassle.)

The image depicts a figure in elaborate medieval-style armor, standing upright with a confident posture. The armor is predominantly silver with gold accents, featuring intricate designs and a large floral emblem on the chest plate. The figure holds a sword in their right hand and a large, ornate shield in their left, both adorned with detailed engravings. A blue cape with gold patterns flows from the shoulders, adding to the regal appearance. The figure's red hair is styled in braids, and a halo-like glow is visible behind their head, suggesting a divine or heroic aura.
