driving a police vehicle, or a vehicle that looked like one.
in reply to Matt Griffin

@mattgriffin Yep... they don't think it's a police officer, but....Badge, all the gear, taser, SUV, lights, sirens. 😬
in reply to AI6YR Ben

@mattgriffin
Beefy SUVs can be bought with built in official looking flashing hazard lights, etc. Only difference is that they shouldn't be including blue lights in the civilian models. A lot of the stormchasers have them.
in reply to me_valentijn

@me_valentijn @mattgriffin So, I have learned, there are so many law enforcement agencies here in LA, that there are a lot of official black SUVs with lights, and those officers DO NOT KNOW EACH OTHER and there are police agencies who don't work with each other. I am aware of more than a few cases of either rogue police, or people with SUVs pretending to be police officers (for years), or agencies trying to arrest each other.... it's not a good situation.
in reply to AI6YR Ben

@me_valentijn @mattgriffin I mean... Look at this, I bet I can find a half dozen news stories on it.

KTLA: Police impersonator arrested, accused of conducting illegal traffic stops in SGV
ktla.com/news/local-news/polic…

in reply to AI6YR Ben

@mattgriffin
But at least they had to put some effort into it before: procure a convincing uniform, insignia, cop car, etc. Now law enforcement is indistinguishable from a random militia dude in an SUV. Just throw on your airsoft cosplay gear, grab a real gun, jump in your car and voila, you can pass as a fed.

Other comment, approximately, from police chief is that the suspect was "indistinguishable from any police officer in this room, had a vest, badge, taser, sidearm, you'd be unable to tell the difference between them and a police officer here" plus they were driving a black SUV with lights. 😬 #MN #assassination

in reply to Robin

@firefly They said to not answer the door even if it's a police officer.
in reply to AI6YR Ben

No, I meant originally. Or if this happened somewhere else. Those poor people TRUSTED the cop when they arrived in the middle of the night.
in reply to Robin

@firefly Correct... I have learned (from STFU Friday) to not open a door to an officer unless they have a warrant, LOL. My own personal experience with LEO (from within a department, mind you) is to not always trust the cops.
in reply to AI6YR Ben

I think I’m bemoaning the fact that these whackos are everywhere, cosplaying cops or ICE or whatever. It’s the Wild West we are in now.

And I love the fact that it’s always white men doing this…meanwhile our Govt is rounding up and deporting law abiding brown people. (I’m sorry everyone, rant over. Off to rally.)

in reply to AI6YR Ben

@firefly The bit I saw, they said that you should not open your door to one police officer, and that if they were sending anyone to a door this this week, it would always be two officers.

Good strategy.

(In many countries if the news was "dressed like a police officer" I would take that to mean was a police officer, I hope not here.)

in reply to John Socks

@John @firefly They did say "betrayed the badge" once, but then said "it's not a police officer", which I read to say it's not one of their officers... but leaves me looking for my tin foil hat.
in reply to AI6YR Ben

I guess now we should all call 911 first when any cop shows up at our door.
in reply to Robin

@firefly If you're in MN, or if you're a lawmaker in another state...
in reply to AI6YR Ben

@firefly
Loathe the thought of answering the door armed. My father was an MP & a policeman briefly when I was born. He said police would tell old ladies to drag the body over the threshold after they’d shot someone through the door. They’d be back after donuts & coffee. It would be self defense.

AI6YR Ben reshared this.

in reply to @stevewfolds

@stevewfolds @firefly Yep, they'll shoot first, ask questions later.

nbcnews.com/news/us-news/-noth…

in reply to AI6YR Ben

@firefly
If you have a firearm in your hand(s) when the police show up, you will be shot. Maybe a white guy would be spared and taken to McDonald’s on the way to jail.
in reply to @stevewfolds

@stevewfolds @firefly I think politicians are the ones who need to worry. Just get a good security system. There were many times I never answered my door, even to law enforcement.
in reply to Alida Antonia

@AlidaAntonia @stevewfolds @firefly Security systems are a false sense of security... I have heard of multiple tales of people watching their businesses cleaned out while watching it on a security cam, and the police showed up 4 hours later to take the report. Evidence, mostly. Or, if it's out in front of your house, just better visibility into what's going on without having to stick your head out.
in reply to AI6YR Ben

@stevewfolds @firefly I’m not talking about a ring camera. Decades ago I bought a house with a then priced security system priced at $10K. Every Window, door was wired plus it had a movement beam. Just never answered the door. Use an intercom and ask serious questions.
in reply to AI6YR Ben

@stevewfolds @firefly my house alarm was so loud, PLUS it called the police. Happened a few times when I left, forgot to turn it off to run errands and the dog turned the motion detector on.
in reply to AI6YR Ben

@AlidaAntonia @firefly I’m on several private cameras just walking up and down my street 32 house dead end street. There are also 3-4 Ring doorbells
in reply to AI6YR Ben

@firefly Heard advice not to answer the door unless there were two policemen.
in reply to AI6YR Ben

@firefly

IF you are out-and-about, stick to crowds.

IF you are inside, lock all your external doors, put your steel crossbars in place, do not answer your door and do not sit/stand in clear sight from any of your first floor windows.

Some of you may have self-defense options. I don't.

in reply to AI6YR Ben

Specifically; the order was to not answer the door for anyone who looks like a cop; unless there is more than one of them.

As well as confirming with dispatch.

"Authorities advised residents in the shelter-in-place area to not open their door to a lone police officer, saying real officers in the area were working in pairs Saturday"

@firefly the same thing happened a couple years ago in the Canadian maritimes. I got a full RCMP car and uniform and went around murdering people all night

saltwire.com/atlantic-canada/p…

in reply to AI6YR Ben

I dunno, maybe the real law enforcement should also be required to wear badges, name tags, insignia indicating their agency, and matching uniforms 🤔
in reply to AI6YR Ben

so they’re saying it was a real cop “impersonating” a cop, and they’re “looking” for him?

Like… how common are blacked out SUVs with lights? You’d need a hell of a lot of premeditation for that.

AI6YR Ben reshared this.

in reply to Mathaetaes

@mathaetaes At this point, I am looking for where I put my tin foil hat. I agree with you on that point, however.
in reply to Mathaetaes

@mathaetaes The police impersonator in Nova Scotia (Gabriel Wortman) had a very authentic marked car. The only identifiably fake thing on it was the car number.
in reply to Sam Oldman 🐀

@samloonie yeah, but you can’t do that without leaving *SOME* kind of trail.

The vehicle mods alone are uncommon. In some states, I think it might not even be legal to have blue lights unless you’re an official LE vehicle.

And in all cases, the acquisition of all this stuff points to a small number of potential people (Law Enforcement and private security), or serious premeditation.

in reply to Mathaetaes

@mathaetaes @samloonie Identified as private security

mprnews.org/story/2025/06/14/h…

in reply to AI6YR Ben

@samloonie Been chasing a 4-year-old all day... just catching up on all that, but 1. totally makes sense, and 2. sounds like the whole limited number LE/private security thing played to his disadvantage.
in reply to AI6YR Ben

local authorities are suggesting to ignore any officer operating solo until the suspect is apprehended.
in reply to AI6YR Ben

Ich meine ja nur.
in reply to AI6YR Ben

It's sounding more likely that the perp is in fact a cop, not an impersonator.
in reply to AI6YR Ben

Oh no, the cops will never find an assassin that hides by being, I mean, looking like a cop!
in reply to AI6YR Ben

need to get the ICE agents, National Guard and Marines out of CA to go protect the rest of the targets in Minnesota.
in reply to Alida Antonia

@AlidaAntonia Very good question, but considering all targeted/shot/killed were Democrats, I would say very likely.
in reply to AI6YR Ben

how would anyone know

???????????????

that is the point - covering their faces, no warrants, no badges

there is no way to tell who is a rando kidnapping people off the street vs. 'official kidnappers'

So, report everyone with a badge, uniform, or driving a vehicle with lights and sirens. Got it.
in reply to AI6YR Ben

two people shot is not a mass shooting. But, it’s still bad.

I think the biggest tragedy of American culture is that we don't have any WITHOUT relationships to capital.

Even our home grown Christian sects are based around prosperity gospel or a protestant work ethic.

Historically all imported cultural traditions are here because of material conditions and work opportunities. (Maybe an exception for Jews escaping persecution).

And looking at the ethics and priorities of the American founding fathers it's obvious that capital has always been the crux of our culture. All the nonsense about freedoms and liberties were simply the correct things to say in the moment. Did you honestly believe they believed these truths to be self evident for everyone? Or the select few.

in reply to Shonky Electronics!

Glad that you're up and running. Yeah, the reset circuit on the clock module is running pretty close to tolerances. It should auto-reset on powerup, but doesn't always do that. Backplane reset button will always work.

And sorry about your retinas. The latest batch of LEDs is significantly brighter that the ones I originally supplied.

in reply to RC2014

@rc2014 the LEDs are ridiculously efficient. Good in a way, but I’ve always assumed 5-10mA each, and I’ve burned out similarly bright LEDs with 4k7s in the past
in reply to RC2014

@rc2014 the system does a good power on reset with SCM “88”, and as I can get to Basic and CP/M from there without changing jumpers, I’m happy
in reply to Shonky Electronics!

I think the "88" is the best all-round boot option. Not only Basic and CP/M, but straight in to a Z80 monitor ROM too to flex your assembly programming muscles too 😀
in reply to RC2014

@rc2014 it’s a loooooong time since I did any Z80 assembly more that a few bytes.
Shame there’s no hex loader in the monitor 🙁
in reply to Shonky Electronics!

There is an Intel hex loader built in to the monitor. As long as your file starts with a colon it should load in. Then G 8000 (or whatever address you compiled it for) will run it.

These scams are a constant among the scam baiting community on YouTube, there are hundreds if not thousands of videos showing how these scams work. People need to educate themselves for their own good. Many start with a paid ad at the top of your Google search. Make sure you check the authenticity of Google searches.

The early- to mid-1990s were the heydays of PA-RISC computers, with many workstations released by HP. Marketing usually had a strong technical focus but sometimes more colorful material slipped through.

HP 9000 workstations were popular in the 1990s through the 2000s: HP 712 and 715, B-Class and J-Class (SMP), with all 32-bit PA-RISC processors.
