I love free old bikes. For years I rode an 81 Miyata 1000 that I found next to a dumpster with no wheels. It was also too small but I didnโt give a fuck. It would probably still be my daily if it hasnโt gotten stolen.
I carted mine around for years, accumulating period-appropriate replacement parts from boneyards for what it was missing and restoring it. It was also fun finding a matching new crank for it when I discovered its chainring bolt pattern just ... kinda doesn't exist.
The bike shop had never seen the bolt spacing it had before. It wasn't even on Sheldon Brown's list of chainring bolt patterns.
Luckily I did eventually find an almost identical crank in a boneyard that had a bolt pattern not from some other dimension.
Did you have to redo the bottom bracket? I'm redoing an old 70s bike boom 10 speed and I got stuck after fitting the bottom bracket because I didn't have crank arms to fit it. Did find a cool bottom bracket that expands to avoid the weird threading.

Todayโs ham radio support event was a great demonstration of the two new-to-us speaker microphones on the Moto XPR-6550 radios in very noisy conditions. Both radios were easily heard even over the eventโs participants and passing traffic. Will be using these in the future (sorry AnyTone and Yaesu)! Even easily heard over the news helicopter making low passes overhead!

Nobody cares where you want to chit chat. I use 5 platforms. Using ONE to help save our democracy doesnโt seem like a hardship.
