I've loved sci-fi/fantasy for most of my life. As a kid I loved it for the escapism, but the older I got the more I loved the way it explored ideas and possibilities.
For instance, I can explore what an agender society might look like (Planting Life in a Dying City)
which I could never do in a contemporary or historical fiction, because those have never (to our knowledge) existed.
My style is growth-centered queer fiction.
I am extremely done with the idea that conflict ('traditional' 3/5 act plot) is central to fiction. I write stories without antagonists and without 'central conflict'.
I love the chance to explore new ways of telling stories, of bring to live queer worlds and queerer characters. Of challenging assumptions and ideas about how stories 'should' work.
