First image of a tardigrade (1773).

Also known as water bears or moss piglets, they're around 0.5mm in length, and can survive extreme temperatures, pressures, radiation, and reanimate after long periods without oxygen. And even handle outer space: publicdomainreview.org/collect…

Seeing these posts of drawings from 150+ years ago, has really helped me understand the difference between learning from illustrations vs learning from photograph.

I remember a point in childhood where textbooks started to populate with more photographs than drawings, & I truly believed that the shiny, colorful pages of photographs were superior to the flat, boring pages of illustrations. How wrong I was!

Now, I appreciate the process of drawing as part of learning. Tyvm. 🌸

My advice to new vulnerability researchers. The young ones, who expect vendors to take their vuln report at face value, and to act quickly to fix the bugs therein.

in reply to K. Reid Wightman 🌻

If there is one universal theme to every vulnerability disclosure I get pitched, it is that the world is going to absolutely end if the vuln isn't fixed right away. That's rarely true, but sometimes the urgency is warranted. But to your point, that doesn't meant anyone else shares your view.
in reply to BrianKrebs

@briankrebs The late Dan Kaminsky once said (paraphrasing): every vulnerability researcher thinks their bug is the best bug that ever did bug.

I like to see a vendor at least acknowledge bugs and make some kind of a plan. Even if it's "we'll patch it on our next annual release" that's fine.

Lately I've had a slew of vendors who never even confirm bugs, let alone put together any remediation plan. But "we take security very seriously" and all that...
