"Tech exceptionalism" can be a sin (as with "move fast and break things" wrecking so much, especially labor markets), there *are* ways in which tech is *truly* exceptional, in the sense of bringing forth capabilities and affordances that have never existed before, in all of human history.

@daniel Sorry, that's the thing that brought me to the EU. I'll be doing events in Spain, Switzerland and Belgium in the new year.

"Every computer can run every program, including ones that the user doesn't want (ads), or that the manufacturer doesn't want (ad-blockers)."

I remember how some years ago I believed that we can't have nice things because it requires startrek-style(despite not knowing about startrek itself) replicators. And during walk to school I was thinking about DMCA and similar domestic law. Which made me realize that I do have startrek-style replicator at home, as well everyone else does. Nice things are not impossible because technology doesn't exist, such use of technology was just made illegal.
