I think it's fake, and anyways the admin here have my email address too.

It is very much fake. It's being combated on all fronts to make it stop. A recent PR was done to help prevent this stuff so I imagine soon another Mastodon software release will come out and responsible admins will make adjustments.

In the past few hours, dozens of new accounts were created to do the scam. First image an hour ago. Second image, shows the latest two accounts with the one that hit you circled in red. It's whack a mole right now for admins and being done on servers with open signups.
