Live and Leave with Love – Kaushal Kishore
The news descended, cold and grim,
A hopeful flight turned dark and dim…
A crash stilled both breath and soul,
And then left behind a gaping hole…
.
When I closed my eyes, there I saw,
That fate could strike without a flaw…
It could’ve been anyone, you or me,
As we move through life so endlessly…
.
We chase our work, chase our dreams,
We ride the waves of fleeting schemes…
Yet seldom do we stop and try to see,
That even “today” holds no guarantee…
.
What moved me most was not the end,
But how we leave the ones we tend…
No hug, no pause, no gentle goodbye,
We just disappear in the blinking sky…
.
We storm out doors in morning haze,
With furrowed brows and hurried gaze…
Sometimes a fight, sometimes regret,
And words so unsaid we soon forget…
.
But life is unpredictable, love is brief,
And silence leaves the deepest grief…
Not that you’re gone, but that we failed,
To express the love our hearts had held…
.
So call someone, don’t wait too late,
Before your regret becomes your fate…
Speak softly now, and hold them tight,
For no one can know the coming night…
.
Step out and look at the sky so wide,
Let your gratitude replace your pride…
Smile at a stranger, and bless the day,
Let small sweet moments not slip away…
.
And when you leave for work or flight,
Be sure to part with your words of light…
Say mildly “I love you”—mean it true,
So they remember the best of you…
.
Leave with grace and not with pride,
With warmth that lingers deep inside…
And yes, just as my mother preached,
Tell them gently once you’ve reached…
.
For hearts at home will always wait,
To hear you’re safe beyond the gate…
Never leave home without that call,
As it means the world, it says it all…
.
