Mastodon supports posting audio files as well as videos and images. Audio is played using a dedicated player if your app or interface supports it.

The audio can be any length as long as the file size is below your server's limit (usually 99mb). Formats are MP3, OGG, WAV, FLAC, OPUS, AAC or 3GP.

I've attached an example audio and artwork to this post, if your app or interface supports it you can play it below.

And sndup.net is a 20 MB or less audio file uploading/sharing service you can paste links anywhere from.

The image is artwork I added when uploading the audio file. As it's an electronic piece, I added a public domain photo of some LEDs πŸ™‚

The artwork is optional, if you don't include any artwork it shows your profile image in the player.

The spikes around the artwork are (I think) some kind of graphic equaliser display. If you're on a server running the experimental branch of Mastodon, the web player may show curves instead of spikes.

Oh the image is in the circle!

I have spikes.

Also, off topic but #Mastodon

I have written this reply three times because of the arrogant "pre selection for delete" that Mastodon does for replies.

Very frustrating. Arrogant. Intrusive.

@Kevin Russell @Fedi.Tips
I'm sorry to disturb here, but there is no circle for me just a noise player here.
Must be a (React.js, Redux) issue maybe?

@zer0unplanned

You're on Friendica so that handles the player in its own software?

friendica (DFRN) - Link to source

Yes it does. with me. And noise is better then youtube or whatever.

The circle view is generated by Mastodon's web interface software, so it wouldn't be visible on Friendica.

@kevinrns

Oh no, sorry to hear, could you explain a bit more about "pre selection for delete"?

in reply to Fedi.Tips

When replying in the browser version, all but the first account, are selected as it opens, and any typing deletes all but the first account.

On EDIT for my own posts, mastodon selects all, and deletes on first typing, unless I tap carefully somewhere off the reply box first.
