Donald Trump says America should "forget about" the separation of church and state
Trump said that instead of a separation of church and state, he will bring "religion back to our country."
Donald Trump signed an executive order yesterday establishing a “religious liberty commission” at the Department of Justice (DOJ) to investigate and present strategies to eliminate “threats to domestic religious liberty.”
During his comments on the order, Trump said that he doesn’t know if there’s a separation of church and state and that we should “forget about that for one time.”

Don’t let Poilievre import Trump’s war on science
The Conservative Quebec [sic?] platform, unveiled recently by Leader Pierre Poilievre, says: “A Conservative government would put an end to the imposition of woke ideology . . . in the allocation of federal funds for university research.”Using similar arguments – especially with regard to diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) policies – the Trump administration has systematically cut federal funding for critical scientific research. Projects studying vaccines, infectious diseases such as HIV, and the health of sexual and gender minorities were specifically axed.
Despite Poilievre’s attempts to distance himself from Trump in some areas, his platform reveals he would follow the same path in attacking critical research, which should be free from political interference.
Voters must take this seriously. Canadians deserve better. We deserve a government that won’t muzzle scientists and won’t silence research when it is not convenient for a political agenda.

Lawyers: ICE deports immigrant mother of an infant and three children who are US citizens
Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents have in recent days deported the Cuban-born mother of a 1-year-old girl — separating them indefinitely — and three children ages 2, 4 and 7 who are U.S. citizens along with their Honduran-born mothers, their lawyers said Saturday.
The three cases raise questions about who is being deported, and why, and come amid a battle in federal courts over whether President Donald Trump’s immigration crackdown has gone too far and too quickly at the expense of fundamental rights.
Lawyers in the cases described how the women were arrested at routine check-ins at ICE offices, given virtually no opportunity to speak with lawyers or their family members and then deported within three days or less.

Terrified Trump flees tariffs war after CEOs’ ‘empty shelves’ warning
Summary
Trump had to reverse his aggressive tariff rhetoric after CEOs from Walmart, Target, and Home Depot warned of empty shelves and higher prices due to supply chain disruptions.
Investors reacted negatively to his threats against Fed Chair Jerome Powell, prompting a market sell-off.
Trump backtracked, expressing optimism on a China trade deal and now denying plans to fire Powell.
Global markets remain volatile, and the IMF cited Trump’s trade war as a “major negative shock” to global growth.

It gets thrown around a lot but Orwell's 1984 has a passage, the context in the book is the protanonist realizing specifically about how it is impossible to argue against the fascist party as they happily substitute alternate facts whenever desired, and mandate the loyal adopt them wholesale.
"The Party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears. It was their final, most essential command."
This is the chapter. george-orwell.org/1984/6.html

“The Party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears. It was their final, most essential command.”
I actually hate this quote because idiots around me use this thought pattern to reject the results of rigorous scientific studies in favor of their isolated, personal experiences.
To them, "Science" is an much an authoritarian imposition as "The Party" and "Scientism" is the worst "cult".
Yes, your experience is valid. But, it doesn't trump shared objective reality, which good science reveals.

Do This: April 19th list of protests
Okay, so remember when I told everybody to hold April 19th? Here’s where you can search for a 50501 event near you, and there are definitely going to be other events on the same day by other groups.
It will NOT be as big as April 5th. But a good turnout is important – and basically will continue to be important for months and months.
The next really massive turnout day looks like it’s going to be May 1st, though. Reserve the day. Indivisible is cooking something up, 50501 will be in on it, so will a lot of other people, or so I hear. Put it on your calendar now, so you’re ready.
Here are some other April 19 events in the Seattle area, compiled by Indivisible. I’m sure you can find something to do.
See you out there, and as always – good hunting.

"We love disruption and whatever is good for America will be good for Americans and very good for Palantir,” Palantir CEO Alex Karp said in a February earnings call. “Disruption at the end of the day exposes things that aren't working. There will be ups and downs. This is a revolution, some people are going to get their heads cut off."

Do This: HANDS OFF! National Protest this Saturday, April 5th
Hello and welcome to another Monday planning day. At time of writing, I don’t actually know how this past weekend’s Tesla protests went – I’m writing this well in advance, and scheduling it to go up no matter what happens. But hopefully you were there and hopefully it went well.
This weekend is bigger. It’s called Hands Off! and it’s not specifically Tesla focused, it’s against the entire Musk/Trump administration agenda.
Like with the Tesla protests, there are hundreds scheduled. Like the Tesla protests, not all are at the same time of day – I have two in reasonable range of me that don’t even overlap so I may be able to show up at both.
You have options is what I am saying.
Go find a good one for you, make the time, and get out there.
And good hunting.

HEY EVERYONE DOING PROTESTS LISTEN UP
One addendum to the last post:
We need to do our own reporting. We need to talk about these protests. To everyone. You need to post about them, at least to say you did them, that you were there.
The media’s not reporting it, so WE HAVE TO REPORT IT INSTEAD.
Which is one reason why I’m writing all this up. WE have to spread the news, because THEY will NOT.
Seriously, the fash podcasting littleman I talked about last post? He was literally the ONLY media to show up. No other media was there.
So once again, we have to be that media. For real.

Stackslobber posts evidence that transhumanism is a literal cult, HN crowd is not having it
In my head transhumanism is this cool idea where I'd get to have a zoom function in my eye
But of course none of that could exist in our capitalist hellscape because of just all the reasons the ruling class would use it to opress the working class.
And then you find out what transhumanists actually advocate for and it's just eugenics. Like without even a tiny bit of plausible deniability. They're proud it's eugenics.

I happen to know this other company has no dedicated resource for my niche and therefore is unlikely to be verifying their swap actually works, but it will have the superficial appearance of working. I know they have no dedicated resources because they are actively hiring their first staff member for this niche and said so in a recent job advertisement.
Myself and my fellow niche serfs have been asked to put together a list of questions for this other company, and the intent is clearly a thin veil to have us justify our ability to eat. We've been highlighted this time, but it's also clear other areas are receiving similar requests and pressure.
If you were to ask questions of a tech executive from a company which is using AI to pretend to fix a tech niche - but they are likely to believe they are doing so more than superficially and are able to convince other ignorant and gullible executives that they are doing so, what would you ask?

Identify 3-5 common use cases for your niche, and ask them to walk you through how AI "did it."
If they can't, then their AI clearly isn't up to the job if it can't actually do the basics.
If they provide something, shoot it full of holes .
