He compensates his lack of wings by having slightly larger ears. But the big almond shaped eyes, the cuteness and his love for (some) fruits might imply a relationship.

I need to tell you something unsatisfying: your personal consumption choices will not make a meaningful difference to the amount of enshittification you experience in your life

Here's why you're getting enshittified: we deliberately decided to stop enforcing competition laws. As a result, companies formed monopolies and cartels. This means that they don't have to worry about losing your business or labor to a competitor, because they don't compete. It also means that they can handily capture their regulators, because they can easily agree on a set of policy priorities and use the billions they've amassed by not competing to capture their regulators. They can hold a whip hand over their formerly powerful tech workers, mass-firing them and terrorizing them out of any Tron-inspired conceits about "fighting for the user." Finally, they can use IP law to shut down anyone who makes technology that disenshittifies their offerings.

Eternal Flames

I’ve posted a new video on natural gas “eternal flames”. This video features info about the Darvaza “gate to hell” crater, which I previously wrote about for Spooky Geology, and new content related to the Eternal Flame falls in New York. I visited the falls in June 2025 and did research on how and why the flame exists. The Darvaza section contains new information about how the Turkmenistan government is aiming to extinguish the crater.

I'll be on stage speaking about some of ActivityPub's "hard problems", and what people are doing to fix them. It's a rehash and expansion of a talk I gave at FOSDEM this past February.

Are there threadiverse related problems? I'd imagine so. Would love to include them in my presentation.

It will definitely be a litmus test among many voters, but for the party apparatus itself? No way.
in reply to Sunshine

the Democrat party is permanently dead to me, and it was their embrace of genocide & apartheid as cherished values which did it. absolutely unforgivable, and something which is not possible to fix or redeem. the entire power structure is rotten all the way to the core.

the only way to fix it is to flush it all away.

High Noon recalls vodka drinks mislabeled as Celsius

Oops!

High Noon is recalling some of its vodka seltzer drinks because they were mislabeled as nonalcoholic Celsius energy drinks, according to a recall notice posted Wednesday by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

High Noon is recalling two production lots of High Noon Beach Variety packs. Some of these 12-can packs have cans that are filled with High Noon vodka seltzer alcohol and are mislabeled as “CELSIUS® ASTRO VIBE™ Energy Drink, Sparkling Blue Razz Edition” with a silver top.

Setting aside that High Noon should clearly be a THC seltzer, this is the most plausible excuse for a DWI I've heard of. "But officer, I only had two energy drinks."

Texas House Republicans unveil new congressional map that looks to pick up five GOP seats

Sounds like a totally legitimate system. I guess the clown car will welcome some new passengers.🤡

It's Texas, so it's less of a clown car and more of a clown monster truck. Everything's bigger over there... except the IQ of politicians.

Ergänzend Bandcamp und Qubuz oder 7digital und Internet-Radio: radio.de/genre/indie

in reply to Steffen Voß

(ZDF)

SocialHub developer community: Reboot or Shutdown?

(Originally posted in response to @how's announced ultimatum wrt the future of SocialHub.)

Unless a community team steps up, SocialHub will cease to be ..

@how is urgently asking members of this community to brainstorm and consider options to keep this community not only alive, but make it thrive as one of the grassroots developer centers that help evolve the fediverse.
SocialHub Community Values Policy

Now there’s a deadline: the activitypub.eu domain that hosts this community’s email service expires on September 10, 2025 [..]

So, either way the change is coming. I’d rather have it come in a structured way.

In 2019 @how and Petites Singularités graciously took custodianship of SocialHub, and I for one am very thankful for that! I am sure many in the fediverse developer landscape share that gratitude too.

For people reading this and considering community involvement.. when does P.S. plan to give public announcement / responsible disclosure of SocialHub winding down?

in reply to Arnold Schrijver

Interesting read over there. Also, regarding the definition of viable community - and subsequently the definition of a "community" itself.
in reply to Kristian

Ah, I answered this on the forum, but your and mine mastodon thread does not show that. I did use the reply button on your post I thought. Hmm.

Since the US regards children essentially as exotic pets owned by their parents who are individually responsible for every aspect of their well being, most reasonable people understand they can't afford the time, energy, and money to keep a pet like that. Importing and raising a tiger cub is less resource demanding.

Children are young human members of society and should be treated like it rather than be considered the property of their parents.
