I will also mention that VPNs were required far more before https became a standard on the web. Now most people just will not visit a site that does not use a secure protocol. To be fair I will mention a use case I do use. Which is when I setup a VPN of my own and let friends in to game 😀.

Last year, we took a week to drive slowly from Berlin along the "Balkan route" via the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Serbia and North Macedonia to my husband's Greek family's house on the Ionian Sea. This picture is from #NoviSad in #Serbia, where, like everywhere else, we met the nicest people and spent a lovely evening. KOB: Lea County resident tests positive for measles after death, NMDOH confirms

SANTA FE, N.M. — New Mexico health officials confirmed a Lea County resident, who was unvaccinated, tested positive for measles after they died.

The state medical Investigator’s office is still investigating the official cause of death but NMDOH lab results confirmed the presence of measles in them. According to the NMDOH, that person didn’t seek medical care before they died.

It might be worth pointing out that not only people with visual and/or auditory impairments benefit from #AltText. It can be useful in many other ways, too.

To me, as an #autistic person whose perception and information processing work in quite different ways, it is not always clear what the point of an image is. Some good alt text can help a lot.

Some clarifying background info in alt text can also be very useful for the general public (which helps to normalise the use of alt text).

Oh, this 100%! As a person who’s not autistic, it’s often unclear to •me• what the point of an image is too — and I also use alt text to help me when I don’t see the relevance or don’t know the reference. Curb Cut Effect!
