Took down the mast that was holding up one end of my end fed today. These are the clamps that clamped the mast to a steel fence post. They securely held it up for many years and I highly recommend them. I don't remember where I got them, but it was some company that sells TV antenna masts and associated hardware.

I just cleaned all the spider webs, dirt, and dead insects out of them and wiped them down with WD-40. Now they're ready to go again at the new home.

I can't even look at it by the usual "open on original site" because it's locked.

Oh well.

in reply to Michael K Johnson

A while back I changed some settings to try to lock down my account here a little bit, and there have been a few snags. I loosened things up a bit, so see if you have any luck with it now.
in reply to Art H.

Yeah, now I can "open in original instance" and see it. I suppose that I'll see your next image just fine now. 😀

#Musk Seeks to Put $100M Directly Into #Trump *Political Operation*

#ElonMusk has signaled he wants to make donations not just to his own #superPAC, …but to an outside entity.

It is unheard-of for a WH staffer, even one w/*part-time* status, to make such large contributions to support the agenda of the boss. But there has never been someone in the direct employ of an admin like Musk, the world’s richest person, who is leading Trump’s #DOGE.

I just heard on NBC Chicago that farmers are really being hit by that funding cut to USDA. I'm sure those farmers now are starting to feel that Washington is sucking up all the power and very quickly becoming the USSR.

A radical proposal: put the EU's counter-tariffs on US social media apps

Rather than imposing broad tariffs, the EU should curb harmful social media via strict regulations, preserving beneficial imports while protecting mental health, democracy, and overall well-being.

I saw a picture of the actual recorder, and it was flattened like a pancake. How disappointing it must have been to go to all the effort to recover data only to discover that it was useless because of sloppy maintenance.

My cat has invented a game where he hides under the bed and I shake his crinkly snake on a stick toy. He waits until I'm not paying attention then explodes out from a different piece of the bed to grab the snake. Having raised my blood pressure and vanquished the snake, he trots back under the bed. Repeat until the cat is done.

To start the game, he brings the snake on a stick to me, drops it at my feet, and howls. I have been well trained.

Pokemon Go sale to a Saudi Arabian company owned by govt comes with six separate corporate announcement blogs, not one of them directly addressing what happens to 100 million people's location data, AR mapping capabilities, or the AI maps they have been training:

Beadwork! Right shoulder is done!

Every bead was hand stitched.

I decided that simplicity in the bugle beads is best to show off the leaves. Was also closer to what I've seen on period garments for this style.

Some parts I pulled out 4 times to get right.

@virtuosew yes! You can see how much I improved from my test piece

Gentler curves and looser spacing.

I’ve been experimenting with classic flowerpot shapes, like these, inspired by Roman vases. They make a great base for painting or decorating with mosaic tiles for a personalized touch. With heights from 100 to 300 mm and diameters from 175 to 400 mm, there’s bound to be one that fits your printer!

Check it out: printables.com/model/746685

I absolutely don't need a flowerpot, but I love looking at your well-made uploads, including the detailed documentation and the STEP file!

My personal stance on (generative) AI is rather simple: I do not want it.

I am a creative person who like to create, build and design, AI feels like a salesman selling me my own work, no thank youuu

One of the very few exceptions would be for alt-text generation but even then it has to fulfill a whole checklist

Let's keep the social in social media! :nkoHammer: 🤖

I'm on my way to Berlin for @hackaday Europe. Who else is gonna be there???

On Friday from 6pm I'll be hosting the Bring a Hack pre-event party at Jockel Biergarten, just ten minutes walk from the venue.

Bring a project to show, stickers to swap, or just bring yourself 💖

FYI Canada: This would be an *exceptionally* good time to do something like this with infosec employees

flipboard.com/@globeandmail/ca…

If nothing else I suspect your government could leapfrog up several rungs in the nation-state infosec rankings instantly just by doing targeted hiring from the reported mass firings of queer employees of letter agencies

in reply to mcc

Do this across all professions and research areas. Seems like a no brainer...

Same for science and technology. Every country should be doing their own "Operation Paperclip" to get the displaced US scientists.

Btw, remember misinformation goes both ways. Just remember to double check if what you’re boosting really is the controversial issue it’s been worded to be.

Found some early spring wild onions!

(Notes: these are everywhere around here. We only picked a small handful of bulbs. Generally you'd only snip the leaves and allow the bulb to stay in the ground to keep growing. And you only harvest a small amount amongst a larger crop so that they keep growing year after year.)

@Apiary - Oooh, even better! Means you can just pull up all the bulbs!
