1/ A longtime Wired editor just wrote a mush-brained essay about how he totally missed the political rot of Silicon Valley (& still doesn't get it). But in the late 1990s, a Wired journalist warned of a toxic ideology bubbling up from tech. Paulina Borsook has largely been erased. Let's change that

If Charlie Kirk was truly Christ-like, he’d have gone after the wealthy, the powerful, the church itself for its failure to feed the hungry and care for the elderly and imprisoned. Instead, he ambushed college kids with bad faith fake debates because he came to every speaking event with a pre-set agenda that had nothing to do with helping others.

Feels like many of my followers could use these images in some wonderful memes. Or in flirting. Or you can just be happy knowing that the Deaf community tends to be very queer-positive and that even "mainstream" apps teach LGBTQ+ terms, etc.

But also, yeah, I know some of you -- even hearies -- are gonna be dropping these screenshots in non-ASL conversations, heh. 🤟

Pick one of those obscure saints that Bob The Traveler posts about then jubilee his Feast Day. Today's obscure saint, for example, would be Saint Pacificus of San Severino and don't ask me anything about him cuz I don't know.

How? Well, like the song says....

Celebrate

Dance to the musiiiiiiiic

Those were the easiest song lyrics ever written.

St. Vitus? Wait, "ergot"? I thought this was a wine festival!

in reply to tomgrzybow

@tomgrzybow
Odd you should bring up St. Vitus because the last time I heard music of that specific mention was when Art Collins sought to mis-portray the moves that the enslaved blacks did when they were permitted to dance. But that's the kind of thing that was expected of polite white society at the turn of the 20th century from the 19th.

I know I’ve got a few Buddhist and Buddhism-curious mufos so I was wondering

would anyone be into doing a super chill weekly sutra discussion?

super light and casual

just one chapter a week so everyone has time and no one feels pressured. and anyone can join in whenever because we're just doing that one chapter that week

nothing formal. no dogma

just like:

a chapter a week (starting with the Lotus Sutra)

one quote or thought to kick off

respond if you want, lurk if you want

hashtag: #Mastodharma

anyone?

thinking maybe starting new chapters on saturdays?

Good morning from Tokyo!

Days are getting shorter - so we are easing into the season where I can finally take night photos again on my way home from the office. Here are a few shots from last night, walking the quiet backstreets of Itabashi Ward.

PSA: for the last two weeks I have had a bad cold that morphed into a sinus infection that morphed into bronchitis and I tried the “gently power through it” strategy but have had to trade down to the “rest and fluids and meds” method of healing. 😷

So if you need something from me and I’ve ghosted you, please reach back out! I’m going to try to catch back up on life on Friday if these new meds work… and the closer you are to the top of the inbox, the better off you’ll be 🍀

in reply to Lacey

that sounds like not much fun! Hope you continue to mend.

Mum's celebration of life was exactly as she would have wanted. Perfect weather, a high tide, ships leaving the harbour and sounding their horns, plus a RAAF flyover at the end. Magic!

It sounds about as perfect as a memorial service can be

A great way to celebrate and remember your Mum 🌹

@AnnonBudgie it was beautiful. And since i had a proper bawling weepfest earlier in the day, i was actually able to experience the ceremony instead of being overcome.

For folks who play #TTRPGs in meatspace, what apps (if any) do you use for ambient sounds, sound effects, and battle music?

Someone should hurry up and invent micro-GPS. I want to be able to have objects inside my house determine their position on a centimeter scale.

basically I want cheap and easy Differential GPS

in reply to Foone🏳️‍⚧️

if you can find some cheap radio emitters with a steady and accurate frequency, you can make some sort of differential timing detection system by comparing where in the wave form you are for 3 sources, and use that to determine a location in 3D. I have seen that with robots, and accuracy is sub centimeter

In 2016 Trump promised he had a health care solution to replace Obamacare & it was so easy & great. (Hint: It involved hospitals!) He also said he would build a wall & Mexico would pay for it.

In 2024 Trump said he would end the war in Ukraine in his first week in office & he would release the Epstein files.

They called Reagan Mr. Teflon because nothing bad ever seemed to stick to him.

Trump has perfected this art: "I never said it; the liberals tried to stop me; I did do it anyway!"
