After watching the two for a bit, the young one came up with a shellfish, perhaps a clam and started bonking it on their chest.

Then drama!

A sea gull stole it right out of paws!

Sea gulls are jerks.

Gulls gotta eat too, but boo!

Started a project to organize my camera stuff in a desk a drawer.

#3dPrinting

in reply to Kyle Davis

On this project I’m not printing bottom layers: they just don’t show and are a waste.

I’m also using lightning infill.

I hold my breath when it starts but I’ve only had one adhesion failure (and it was my unrelated fault).

#3dPrinting

in reply to Kyle Davis

I’m assuming the outer walls don’t need the stiffening that the bottom layers provide?
in reply to Chris Huck

@chrishuck they’re 1.2mm wide (0.6 lines x2) which is plenty stiff for this application.
in reply to Kyle Davis

I’d reckon. It’s often amazing how the slightest border for a bottom layer can stiffen walls without adding a lot of material.
in reply to Chris Huck

@chrishuck the next level of organization will have base layers, but honestly once this is in the drawer, it will be strong enough to park a truck on top of.
in reply to Kyle Davis

Project update:

Finally wrapped the first layer. Next up is removable trays for the second layer.

#3dPrinting

in reply to Kyle Davis

Printed the first top tray for the drawer. Fits perfectly on the first try.

I love how I can get exact fits with #3dPrinting. Now to fill this tray up with more camera stuff!

in reply to Kyle Davis

Back on #3dPrinting/#organization bullshit.

The first tray of the second layer is looking nice, if I do say so myself.

in reply to Kyle Davis

This #3dPrinting project is finally over!

~98% of my #photography gear lives neatly in this single drawer now.

The top two trays have my Nikon 1 cameras, battery chargers and spares as well as (most) of my 35mm negative scanner.

The Diana flash units kicked by butt. They have a really odd, organic shape that I had a hard time modeling, so I just modeled the “female” port and plugged them in.

There is only one misc area for extra lens covers that aren’t worth organizing.

My oh my… Trump just reached the find out phase.

Canada likely to follow in Portugals footsteps and cancel the purchase of 72 F-35 fighter jets, because that aircraft is made in the dictatorship from where The God King is threatening all NATO allies.

if Canada has to take some of the planes that have already been agreed to be delivered and don't want a mixed fleet at home, I am pretty sure Iran or Saudi Arabia would buy them...
in reply to Randahl Fink

Yep, find phase gonna start ramping up.

Plus, I don't blame them. Why would you trust a dang jet that dependent on working software from a country being run by a nut job.

New year, new #Wikipedia list.

Billy Craigie was an Aboriginal Australian activist who was one of the original people creating the Aboriginal Tent Embassy in Canberra protesting the government's Australia Day statement on land rights (supporting leasing of the people's ancestral lands). They set up a beach umbrella, camped out, got arrested, started a movement. We had a photo of him in Flickr Commons so I wrote this up.

Early American photographers usually have interesting stories. Also, it's fun to track down selfies because most photographers have a picture of themself. Alvan Harper moved from PA to Tallahassee where he took a lot of photos of day-to-day life of both White and Black people. Much of his work was lost but some was found again. I did not write this article but I polished/expanded it AND found the picture of him. Easier to research once I realized he was also A. S. Harper

My town used to have a resident who exhibited himself with P.T. Barnum as a "living skeleton." He was not, by all accounts, a person with an eating disorder but maybe another problem? Started right after the War of 1812, he was a soldier. Old newspapers are all just gossip for the most part, I tried to assemble a few things that seemed to be consensus. Finally had to walk away w/o quite figuring out when he died, but I know it wasn't 1832! I still know Edsons in town now

A new #GreenpeaceUK investigation exposed a brutal reality: since #Brexit, giant #SuperTrawlers have spent 37,000 hours fishing inside the #UK ’s Marine Protected Areas (MPAs). That’s the equivalent of 4 years and 3 months killing every single hour a day. Destroying #habitats and wiping out #fish populations, all while the UK government does nothing to stop them.

#Supertrawlers spent 7,380 hours fishing in #UK #MarineProtectedAreas each year since #Brexit

by Alexandra Sedgwick | March 11, 2025

An investigation by #GreenpeaceUK reveals today that giant supertrawlers relentlessly continue to catch fish in the UK’s Marine Protected Areas, damaging precious #MarineHabitats and #FishPopulations, despite the UK government having had the powers to stop them since Brexit and committing to protect at least 30% of #UKWaters by 2030.

I am saddened. I was raised under VOA just outside Cincinnati, Ohio. The mission. The purpose. I could see the tower beacons for the first 18 years of my life laying in my bed. Some people counted sheep. I don't know how many thousands of times I stared at those beacons blinking until I feel asleep. I am heartbroken. #VOA

OK, I’m on the hunt for my first table saw, and I’m really tempted by this vintage Craftsman 113 (see picture). How hard would it be to add a stand and extend the table surface? Are there like wings/extensions you can easily add? #woodworking #craftsman #tools #tablesaw

Holy crap. The DOJ is arguing that the President can unilaterally deport anyone he wants without ANY statutory authority, just on his inherent authority as President over national security.

That is a terrifying claim to make and not one that has ever been recognized before in US history.

Well said! I had a similar, much more brief post a few years ago because everybody expected the mod team to be perfect and know everything about anything and it made for some unhappy campers when they found out we weren't and I didn't feel like investing hours into learning a subject I wasn't interested in.

I'm looking to sell these Rogue Trader (RTB01) Imperial Space Marines, as they have a certain collectible value. Boosts appreciated.

Price has been reduced to 85€+shipping

I'm glad to inform that there's a bit of interest, so I may sold it fast (good news for me)

Over the past year I've been working on a video for "Horsetail," a song from my latest album, Five Thousand Feathers. Several locations, a lot of editing, shooting some extra footage, learning about various types of processing and how to use some new more powerful software, and now it's finally finished!

Film-making is something that I am becoming more and more interested in, and I've learnt a lot during the process.

You can see the video here: youtube.com/watch?v=iImF-FEfrC…

It’s nonsense. A judge just ruled they can’t. They’re doing it anyway.

Every one of these actions is a test balloon. Every one is the same question: “What can we get away with?”

And every time the response is anything short of a political punch in the face, they call it a success and try the next thing too.

This is what gets me about the question, "Zomg, what to do if he doesn't follow court orders?"

If he can get away with it, he will not follow court orders. We've only seen the "What can I get away with?" movie run about 500 times so far.

And the answer so far has been, "Everything."

He's going to keep doing absolutely all the shit until the big guns show up and haul him off to Rikers Island (I wish). There's no other language he understands.
