Canadian Prime Minister Carney’s first foreign meeting is with French President Macron.
Traditionally, the first meeting would be with USA or UK. But now his first meeting is with France.
Symbolically, this represents a big re-alignment geo-politically. And if you hear Macron’s words, you’ll understand exactly what this means: he says Canada and France have a shared cultural heritage and values.
But also, unlike Trudeau, Carney has an Anglophone heritage. Not Francophone. Yet here, he primarily speaks French in this news conference. Because the emphasis here is that French is a core element of Canadian identity.
What does this mean? Already, Canadian media are calling France—not USA—Canada’s closest ally. This has never happened in my lifetime.

The newest addition to my phone collection is this gorgeous red GPO Tele 312
This one was made by Plessey in 1956, and seems to be as-issued - at nearly 70 years old, it deserves some TLC.
The dial is seized solid (most likely a broken dial spring) there's a lot of dirt to get rid of, there are a few minor scratches/blemishes that should polish out, and it needs new cords etc.
The handset is faded, but I might be able to pull that back a bit if I'm lucky
It should clean up /very/ nicely!

the City Museum is the best. When my wife and I went to visit St Louis for a few days, we had plans to see lots of things. Instead, we spent two full days climbing around the museum.
The place is one of a kind. Absolutely no regrets, either.
They have a cave system and human sized steel habitrail tube.

That's weird? Uhm, I had a pet spider in the bathtub for quite some time whom I vengefully fed the moths that ate holes into my carpet to.
It was very satisfying to watch. She'd eat everything else but drop the wings, so over time a bunch of wings collected in the bottom of the tub.
Eventually the lettings agents (🤮) announced an inspection (😡) and I had to put her outside and clean the tub.
