Sunny March mornings are great for #bird photos, especially when it comes to Grackles. I love studying all the different hues on them. There are subtypes with blue-green, purple and bronze tones in the feathers. The Blue Jays also love the sun, it makes all the intricate patterns their feathers have more visible, especially cool around the face.

Making progress on the shuttle tatted choker/necklace/whatchamacallit. I've always been fascinated by lace making, but the bobbin and pin method is a) impossible to do on the go and b) a sensory nightmare with the clacking of bobbins against each other 😵‍💫 i was so happy when i discovered shuttle tatting, which eliminates both issues and is actually not that hard to learn. The stitches are structured pretty much like macrame knots and the patterns/diagrams are easy to follow. Even for me, and i can't stand reading patterns 🫣 this is a free pattern i found online, originally meant to be attached as edging on a handkerchief.

When a federal court imposes contempt sanctions, the U.S. Marshals Service enforces the order, including arresting persons ordered imprisoned for contempt.

The U.S. Marshals Service is an executive branch agency within the DOJ.

The Court also ordered the Government to address the form in which it can provide further details about flights that left the United States before 7:25 PM. The Government maintains that there is no justification to order the provision of additional information, and that doing so would be inappropriate, because even accepting Plaintiffs’ account of the facts, there was no violation of the Court’s written order (since the relevant flights left U.S. airspace, and so their occupants were “removed,” before the order issued), and the Court’s earlier oral statements were not independently enforceable as injunctions. The Government stands on those arguments. Moreover, given that the Government’s motion for a stay remains pending before the D.C. Circuit, the Government should not be required to disclose sensitive information bearing on national security and foreign relations until that motion is resolved, especially given that this information is neither material nor timesensitive. If, however, the Court nevertheless orders the Government to provide additional details, the Court should do so through an in camera and ex parte declaration, in order to protect sensitive information bearing on foreign relations.

They were not DEPORTED. Deported means sending them back to their country of origin. These people were sent to a maximum security #prison in #ElSalvador, without any #DueProcess or any analysis as to whether they feared harm there.

Flying a person to a third country that they may never have been to, directly into a prison where they are going to be forced to do hard labor, is not a #deportation; it's something else entirely.

Per Raffi Melkonian:

Judge #Boasberg is building insurance against appellate review. He wants the appeals court to see that the district judge gave #DOJ every opportunity to comply w/ his orders.

It's just very difficult to get a contempt order or something similar to stick, especially against DOJ.

It’s not how it should work, but it’s the world we live in.

Even this level of restraint & patience may not work.

The privilege would allow the govt to withhold evidence on the grounds that it could compromise national security. #Boasberg has repeatedly expressed skepticism that this privilege applies if for no other reason than everything about the #deportations were broadcast by #Trump & the admin on social media.

After reviewing #ToddBlanche’s declaration, Boasberg scheduled a hearing for 2:30PM today, & said the govt must decide by Tues whether it would be invoking the privilege.

I know several people who bought Teslas a few years ago. One of them was recently laid off. Another family has a trans kid they're trying to keep safe. They voted for Harris and are as horrified as any of us at what DOGE is doing. They don't have the bandwidth right now to sell their car for pennies on the dollar. I suppose if they're still doing it, someone must be falling for it. I can't imagine anyone continuing to run a phishing scam after it stops working.

I have mixed feelings about it.

On one hand, it hurts me thinking about anyone losing their money through a scam. (Goddess knows I've lost some myself through scams (though they were more sophisticated operations), but what is probably drops in the bucket compared to many suckers.)

On the other hand, as long as these low-hanging-scams keep hitting their ROIs, that's fewer groups working on more sophisticated grifts. And frankly, I don't really want to see what they can come up with if they really set their minds to it.
