There's this Rust library called Clap that is unbelievably powerful, but it has a downside, which is that it is unbelievably powerful. It is able to do so many things that figuring out how to do any one single thing becomes extremely difficult.

These two lines I wrote just now do something extremely sophisticated, they set off an entire range of behaviors, which clap interprets to the Nth degree of correctness. I am…uncertain how I wrote these two lines, exactly. Some form of divination I think

A profound comment on art imitating life. Earnie's sculpture of Burt can finally embody the truth of Bert, but only by destroying him.

in reply to llewelly

@llewelly

It craves what he has even yet, even with his nose, it demands more. Next the hair, next the eyebrows, next the eyes.

What was once a man... dismantled in service of perfection of the artistic vision.

Earnie may be remembered for his sculpture, but who will remember the muse destroyed to make it?

Is second childishness and mere oblivion,
Sans teeth, sans eyes, sans taste, sans everything.

Cuba, who we have placed sanctions on for 60 years, has a higher life expectancy than the United States.

Why?

Healthcare.

Well, you're full of yourself, since Wikipedia is the source, but I'll even provide screenshots, along with URLs.

American life expectancy at birth was 78.4

Doesn't surprise me. I've actually been to Cuba where my daughter was an exchange student under Obama. Because of the longstanding US embargo, Cuba has an abundance of educated citizens, many of whom have medical degrees. But because there are so few jobs, those qualified doctors and nurses have other jobs like public sanitation. I kid you not.

Selective prosecution entirely based on dollar-dollar:

As part of the #deportation flights of alleged #terrorists, the #US quietly dropped charges against a key #MS13 leader & returned him to the pro-#Trump leader of #ElSalvador. US investigators believe he has info that could implicate top Salvadoran gov’t officials in corrupt deals with the violent gang.

How many types of insects are there in the world?

There are more kinds of insects than there are mammals, birds and plants combined:
buff.ly/lRTohty

in reply to The Conversation U.S.

Not nearly enough???
Insects are the most numerous and widespread class in the animal kingdom, accounting for up to 90% of all animal species.[2][3] In the 2010s, reports emerged about the widespread decline in insect populations across multiple insect orders. The reported severity shocked many observers, even though there had been earlier findings of pollinator decline. There have also been anecdotal reports of greater insect abundance earlier in the 20th century.

But this will be forgotten about by tomorrow

We added an update checker that displays this warning to admin accounts when a security release is available.

It's been available for a while, so you should see this warning if you're running an outdated server!

Honestly, all social engines should include self-update mechanisms, so that the admin can update just by pushing a button, IMO.

I think this warning should be shown to every user, at least after a week or so. Everyone should know it there server admins ar updating regularly or not, especially when it’s about users data security.

I really can’t overstress how insane this is from a security perspective. Apparently adversary espionage services get to play on easy mode for a few years.
