Funny that this image can never be a real clock image no matter how you observe it.

Does not matter if upside down, or mirror image.

Does not matter if you are the clock observing the hands moving counter-clockwise.

It will never appear that way.

Well, I will _not_ trust people who run their currency trade platforms on their private notebooks.

I _don't_ trust banks.

But banks, at the very least, are heavily regulated to prevent all sorts of fraud and shell games - and these regulations are absent in much of the crypto trading business.

So if I _have_ to deal with currencies, who would I rather be doing business with - the huckster who has the Law standing with a big club behind them to ensure their good behavior, or the huckster who is totally unfettered?

the idea of punch cards to program computers came from the punch cards that programmed knit patterns on power looms in the late 19th century. Enough said.

Two Trump administration spreadsheets — which each include what numerous advocates and government officials say is highly sensitive information on programs funded by the U.S. State Department and the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) — were sent to Congress and also leaked online.

A prominent computer scientist who has spent 20 years publishing academic papers on cryptography, privacy, and cybersecurity has gone incommunicado, had his professor profile, email account, and phone number removed by his employer Indiana University, and had his homes raided by the FBI. No one knows why.

today's fun cursed keyboard fact: xkb (the thing both X11 and Wayland use for keyboard input) defines keys called XF86Calculator and XF86Calculater

they are distinct keysyms and you can bind them to different things

in reply to emily, blinkenlight witch

Does this add up?

Are they equivalent like symlinks, or do they function differently?

in reply to emily, blinkenlight witch

Hence, my questions. If they do not function equivalently, then I would be concerned about an attack vector.
in reply to SpaceLifeForm

@SpaceLifeForm I can't imagine how. If you have enough access to a machine to add Calculater to a custom keymap (it's not in any of the keymaps shipped with xkb) and bind it to do arbitrary evil thing (it won't have a default binding in any desktop or application because nobody has ever intentionally used it), surely you can just, like, add `do-evil-thing.sh` as an autorun entry instead?

@SpaceLifeForm Several employers ago, had to take a class about appropriate behavior w/other employees. Actions were split into broad groups; the worst group was called "swimming with the sharks." I had done a shedload of the worst behaviors with a coworker, like loaning money, but there was never any problem, nor were we fucking, which I can't remember if they directly called out. But I really miss her companionship, & it always gave us a good laugh to talk about swimming with the sharks.

The image depicts a figure standing in a dimly lit environment, wearing a long, dark blue and black gown with silver accents. The gown features a high collar, shoulder armor, and a wide belt with a decorative buckle. The sleeves are long and fitted, with silver cuffs. The figure's hair is dark and styled back, with a headpiece that includes a circular design. The background is a gradient of dark gray, with small white specks resembling stars, enhancing the mystical atmosphere. The figure's posture is upright, and they are looking directly at the viewer.

Cool build! Thanks for sharing! Do you have it set up in transport/roaming mode as well, or is it uplinking to other RNode APs in the area? I have a similar setup in my own car, although not as neatly build ;)
in reply to Mark Qvist

@mark Thanks. Currently in transport mode. Not yet set to roaming because for now it is in only a few certain fixed locations in town. Acts as a testing station for now: allows others to see if they get an announce from it & for me to see if any messages received. I can test when walking/cycling if I can reach car from my mobile rnode. I reached it through Munich town from about 1 km. It is a 90% "unmonitored" rnode. I locate the car using a Meshtastic T-beam node with GPS in car & mobile T1000E

Sneak peek of the back of a little helper board I'm working on. One of 3. Do you understand what this might be for and would you find it helpful?
in reply to Alpenglow Industries

I’ve been meaning to get a Pixelblaze Nano, and separately bought a strand of small beads with (presumably) WS2812B in them to test a theory. If your board replaces the string’s USB-A controller and those holes provide strain relief, that’d save me the effort of figuring out the same. 😀
in reply to VK2TTY he/him

@vk2tty Oh cool! So the Pixelblaze Pico (don’t think there’s a Nano yet! 😆) itself would replace the USB-A controller, and one of the boards I’m making will either solder or connect to the Pico and break out its 4 pads into a USB-C connector and strand connector. The holes are a little more for sewing the board to something than strain-relieving the strand, I would have had to grow the board to do that and I was trying to keep it minimal. I’ll post more about the boards in a bit!

Minor technical error today. Realised we had some “fungus gnats” and I helped a sundew catch some.Taking a closer look, I realised it looked more like a wasp. No idea where they came from.
Inconclusive iNat ID.
Eventually realised the oak marble gall in a pot had a lot more holes in it than I remembered & put 2 & 2 together.
More oak marble gall wasps had emerged & now lived in my oak-less house.
Gall put outside & 10 mins of capture & release - balance returned.
Leave the galls outside, kids.
