Musk says government funded jobs arenโ€™t real jobs. Yet his companies survived on government subsidies. (Also, those savings are bogus numbers.)
in reply to George Takei ๐Ÿณ๏ธโ€๐ŸŒˆ๐Ÿ––๐Ÿฝ

Yes, those numbers are complete fantasy, just more lies from fElon. The numbers have been debunked by a heap of people so far, including analysts, constitutional lawyers etc, the actual savings are minimal and in fact govt spending has gone up since trump took office.

Well, I guess having someone with rank-and-file military experience as SecDef at least means he knows how to manage "OPSec", right?

Right???

@corruptian I think you want to believe that, but if you'll look at the facts and the track-record, you'd have to agree this is exactly the current regime's incompetent style...

#Neolithic textile production: an amazing find! A charred spindle with a charred ball of flax thread.
Found in the pile dwelling settlement of Sipplingen-Osthafen, Lake Constance, dating 3316-3306 BC. The damp environment has preserved it in good condition.

"Why did ICE arrest a mechanical engineering student at the University of Alabama, a graduate student at the University of Minnesota, a recent graduate of Columbia with a green card, a Russian scientist at Harvard Medical School who came here after protesting for Ukraine, and students at Georgetown and Cornell? What prompted Secretary of State Marco Rubio to claim at least 300 student visas had been revoked?"

"We can make an educated guess. By February 11, NBC was reporting that Trump, who had promised mass deportations while on the campaign trail, wasnโ€™t happy with the pace of removals. They reported that a person who was 'familiar with Trumpโ€™s thinking' said that 'Itโ€™s driving him nuts theyโ€™re not deporting more people.'โ€

"This rivals the family separation policy of the first Trump administration for sheer inhumanity. But it also harms Americans in very real ways. Who will want to study or come work here in this climate? Just one example, nearly 25% of practicing doctors in the United States are international medical graduates, demonstrates how this harms our own future prospects."

One side is finished! Getting so close I can taste it! I did the fat side first so I'd get the skinnier side will feel lightning fast by comparison.

I was very worried I'd not have enough of the bugle beads to finish (a problem with Joanne's closing!) but I should have enough to finish.

I'll probably need to frog one section on a curve where the beads are popping. You push one down and another one pops up. It is very temping to snug them up but they need more room than you think! Tiny adjustments to boot, a millimeter here or there, just enough for a bit of movement.

#embroidery #sewing #BeadWork

in reply to virtuosew

I bought out my local Joanne's when I learned they were closing! Felt like I was buying way too many but probably have the exact number of vials that I need.

Am at that almost but not quite done point and it is driving me crazy.

"For the first time, #fracking operations in the US have been linked to ethane exports to Europe through major petrochemical companies and on to globally recognised brands.

#Plastic is a supply-driven issue, the campaigners emphasise.
Despite consumers being guilt tripped over their plastic use, itโ€™s this influx of cheap ethane that spurs on the industry to produce more, she says, and to create new markets when some close."

euronews.com/green/2025/03/29/โ€ฆ

in reply to CelloMom On Cars

"First and foremost, the campaigners are calling for a reduction in the production of plastic.

โ€œThe single-use #plastics that we are being inundated with in our life everywhere, when we have other options, are basically Big Oilโ€™s way of continuing to push for the expansion of the fossil fuel industry,โ€ says Dr Singh."

Reminder: Plastics "Recycling" is a MYTH.

in reply to CelloMom On Cars

"The majority of household brands named in this research have made voluntary pledges to address the plastic pollution their products cause, including reducing their use of virgin plastic. Yet several have actually increased their annual plastic use, and all the companies continue to rely on single-use plastic.

A binding Global Plastics Treaty is essential to hold these companies accountable and cut plastic production at the source."

Just remembered this thing I wrote about generative art, while I was thinking about the knockoff-Ghibli fiasco.

Yes, generated art is sterile and soulless and ugly and awful, but it's also really, really sad; if you're willing to commit the sin of empathy with me, take a moment to wonder about the private inner hell of the people who believe they need these tools.

It's so sad.

damn, you were in Toronto on my birthday and missed it! Lol. Anyhow, I've been reading your book about seizing the means of computation and have been loving it. When I was in high school and wanted to be a programmer, I devoured your books, especially Pirate Cinema and Little Brother, and now that I'm older, I'm glad you've put out something of the philosophy behind those works. So, thank you! Cheers, man!

one conspiracy theory I find totally plausible is that Mangione was identified by facial recognition tech at McDonalds. Given what we know about how venues like MSG are doing real time facial recognition, and how the feds have backdoor access to things like gmail, and law enforcement access to AI face search platforms like Clearview, it seems totally plausible to me that three letter agencies have face search access to the fleet of McDonalds security cameras
