Do you have a sewing machine in a box that you inherited from your great-grandma and haven't ever touched? If it's made of metal, it's probably still perfectly usable! If it has plastic bits, more things could go wrong with it, but it may *still* be perfectly usable. Today is a good day to mess around with it and see if you can get it to work.
I picked up this 1950's Singer from someone (not working) and got it working recently. IT IS SO AWESOME
