We’ve had a few wasp nests around, at home & at work.
I’m happy to leave them be- usually just leave a sign to let folks know to be aware.
They are mostly finished now, though there was a new active nest I spotted under a hedge last week- wonder if a new queen has jumped the gun and thought it was time to start a nest already.
Well done on getting the fence up. It’s nice to get jobs done, especially if they’ve been waiting their turn.

I’m happy to leave wasps as they are too but they’ve just not been very visible.
It’s been a good year for insect and wildlife spotting: hornets (not asian ones thankfully), fox cubs, newts, slow worms, muntjac, badger, frogs, so many birds, worms, ladybirds, hoverflies, solitary bees and bumblebees, butterflies - a brown hairstreak was spotted this week.
The fencing should keep the muntjac off my broad beans this winter.

I was happy to have seen a couple of hummingbird hawk moths this year, and many more speckled wood and wall brown butterflies than I am used to.
I’m less keen on the deer, but they need to eat too.

in reply to Helena • • •Yes the deer are more of a nuisance to everything. I heard two males in the distance sounding off this week. We may have roe deer visiting now too which will be a problem.
I’ve not been able to go along to any of the moth trapping sessions in the reserve. I have no idea about which moths we have.
