I like the terms "Doylist" and "Watsonian" to distinguish the two modes, but I think few people use those terms.

I remember Doylist and Watsonian because Arthur Conan Doyle wrote Sherlock Holmes, so "Doylist" is out-of-universe and Watson was Holmes' sidekick, so "Watsonian" is in universe.
But since I don't think most people know what that means I usually use the more cumbersome "in universe" and "out of universe"
