I'm pushing 60, and this is the first fridge i've ever owned. It needs defrosting and I'm going to have to watch some videos on you tube to learn how. lol.
in reply to Hippy Steve

I use a steam cleaner to defrost our deep freezer. Cuts thru inches of ice like butter!
in reply to Hippy Steve

So that wasn't too horrible of a process. Used heated water in a saucepan to start. Then a wooden spatula. Then I'd dip a cloth in the hot water and wipe with that to get the last bits.

The chunks of ice represent about 1/3 of the build up. twas pretty bad.

in reply to Hippy Steve

I dread this for the giant freezer I have. It saved about $100 upfront to get the manual defrost but saves more on electricity. I turn it off, prop the door open and use baking pans to snag ice and water as I go. Giant old towels on the bottom and floor in front to catch more water. I use nylon or hard silicone cooking spatulas to start knocking off the ice as it warms. Oh yes, the frozen food goes in coolers I have for the defrosting task. Once every two months is better, I always tell myself. Instead of 4! I so empathize with you.

Got a year of PBS Passport to support the Floating Nose Guy network

Anything that I should check out on there?

in reply to FortySpax (Spipple)

An interesting feature of PBS passport is that it includes the "Walter Presents" network which consists of TV dramas from overseas curated by a guy named Walter

Regarding Jimmy Kimmel, it seems awfully late in the game to be saying shit like "Violence has no place in America." I know Liberals love to pretend that the violence of the state is just an Act of God. Something that comes from nowhere and which nobody bears responsibility for. But that fantasy is wearing awfully thin after two years of live-streamed genocide and the intense retaliation against anyone who opposes it.

I have a mental picture in the grotesque style of an Eli Valley illustration of a slave-driver on horseback holding a whip and saying "Violence has no place in America."

Violence is the only reliable function of this decrepit state. It is the glue holding everything together.

One instinct in response to propagandistic lies is to try to fact check them away. Fact-checking can help maintain shared reality among those already not adhering to propaganda—but it is NOT an antidote to propaganda itself. Propaganda is IDEALOGICAL TRANSMISSION: Facts are secondary to narrative.

I have not gone on to protein powders or creatine or any of that stuff yet. Can confirm, this approach absolutely works. And a few lovingly made lattes.

LOL wore my bicycle patterned shirt--which I sewed myself--to a city meeting (to comment on bicycling infrastructure), wonder if anyone noticed I was wearing a bicycle shirt. #sewing #BikeTooter

Colorado isn’t known for its wine – but vineyards are a $3.9 billion wine industry there.

Winemakers there face a tiny but formidable foe: grape phylloxera. This aphid-like pest is forcing vineyards to rethink how they grow grapes.

Intelligence agencies use a variety of coercion tactics, though directly coercing people to kill others is illegal. When they do use this method they typically use intimidation, manipulation, or exploitation to compel individuals to act in a manner that serves their interests.
in reply to Anonymous

An individual with strong beliefs can be easily manipulated by an agency that frames its activities as serving a "greater good". The agency might appeal to the targets sense of patriotism or ideology to convince them that killing someone is a necessary action for their cause.
in reply to Anonymous

A good recruiter isn’t visible to a target or authority, especially if dealing with encryption. They can operate as a secondary or third relation from the target. They can even recruit a target into indoctrinating a scapegoat outsourcing the action and erasing the op trail.
