From that Times piece about the bromance between Gavin Newsom and the far Right:

"Their fast-paced, hourlong discussion was both good-natured and peppered with predictable disagreements. But the conversation revealed some curious policy overlap and potentially exposed each man’s views to supporters of the other."

WE ARE SO COOKED.

My sister was running down the hallway of our ranch-style suburban house, and had a Lincoln Log get shoved down her throat at a high rate of speed as she fell on the vinyl runner. Over 45 years later, that was still memorable.

Vladimir Putin does not typically dress in military fatigues, and the main reason for this, I can only assume, is that he looks absolutely terrible in them.

It is always worth remembering that the level of someone's pay is not an accurate measure to their value to society and importance in the economy.

Hey did anybody hear anything yesterday to "remember" or "never forget" the day that we entered the global pandemic called #Covid?

It's been 23 years and we still get bombarded with insistence that we never forget 9/11!!

But not one rememberance of Covid.

DEATHS:

7,090,776 - Covid
2,996 - 9/11

ILLNESSES RELATED TO:

65,000,000 - #LongCovid
45,200 - 9/11

If we had a 9/11 every day since March 11, 2020, the total deaths would still not be as many as the deaths from Covid.

A German national (Jessica Brösche), a British national (Becky Burke), and now a Canadian national (Jasmine Mooney) have all been detained at the border and placed in ICE custody under dubious pretenses.

It is time for other nations to issue a travel warning to tourists headed to the US.

No need for other countries to issue travel warnings — tourists are done with the USA now, who wants to vacation in a ‘shithole country’?

Aight, pain management says I'm done for the day. While I'm always happy to write for free, if you'd like to help me stop a bank that will happily kick an elderly woman who can't work, her husband stricken with terminal cancer, and their three little dogs out on the street by taking her house, I'm accepting donations again here: ko-fi.com/anarchoninawrites

I'm making ends meet as best I can in my life, but coming up with the money to pay their mortgage too while my mom cares for my stepdad and neither of them can work is getting difficult and I've run out of saved up money to keep doing so. If you can't afford to, or simply don't want to help, please don't worry about it. I'll figure something out; I always do.

See ya tomorrow folks.

If you received at least one telephone call from The Credit Wholesale Company, Inc. between October 22, 2014 and November 17, 2023, you or your business are eligible for a settlement payment if you sign and return a Claim Form or if you submit a claim on this website by clicking the "File Claim" button on the top right corner on or before April 11, 2025.

in reply to Megan Lynch (she/her)

The settlement provides for an estimated minimum payment of approximately $86 for each eligilble call you received and could be as high as $5,000 per call, but you need to submit a claim as described above in order to be eligible to receive payment.

how tf did it take LA until 1990 to bring back rail transit? they should have started mass rollout in the 70's

see alt text for further description, but as a quick summary: 12-24V in, 5.25V out, max output current 1.5A, operating current typically 500-700mA. designed for minimal EMI and noise. all downstream rails are generated from the 5V25 rail using high PSRR LDOs.
in reply to Graham Sutherland / Polynomial

having your typical about half max is a good idea: switchers get kinda bleah when they're operating at <20% max.

Lots of ads for cruise ships. They look crass and vulgar: a huge floating city that has negative environmental impacts floating in pristine places, places that won't remain pristine with these things visiting. 🙁

Leave the pristine places alone. 🙁

in reply to Edwin G.

The only people I see talking about this anymore are Canadians.

I'll grant, I'm not part of the crowd that wanted to do this to begin with, but, still.

Trump's wagging the dog, here: all these things are distractions and ridiculous claims and statements of intent that he really has no intent on following through with.

Want it to go away? Quit talking about it. No *THINKING* American (or, United Statesian, as you put it) wants any of this to happen, either... so..

We know what he's doing. We're not happy about it. It's all bluster and bloviation.

@admin Consider the following hypothetical scenario.

The government of Jupiter decides it wants to annex the United States of America. And it keeps repeating it, over and over and over. How would you feel and react?

The government of the USA has been changing goalposts while leaving this specific threat as is.

And for the record, the message is getting through, here’s The Guardian in the UK
theguardian.com/world/2025/mar…

Now, if only the real threat would shut up and stop.

in reply to Edwin G.

@admin The last thing one wants to do is become complacent.

But Canadians have been the victim of lack of respect from USA residents for months now, including an USA official crossing the border from side to side saying: “USA #1 / 51st state”.

And it’s not only Canada, but also Greenland:

@admin I won’t argue on the common threats you mentioned, which include also the Russian Federation.

But I do have to ask you a simple question: when did this whole thing start (as in a calendar date)?

We might have two different starting points.

in reply to Edwin G.

Honestly, it's my opinion the roots of this started back in the mid 90s, and entire series of books could be written about how we got here from there.

I just hate seeing citizens railing at citizens of other countries for the stupid shit our governments do.

Calling citizens out for the unhinged actions of "leaders" whose names start wit "T" seems a bit like blaming Afghanistan for things Zimbabwe did.

Trump started this. In 2020 he personally negotiated and signed the USMCA saying it was the greatest trade agreement in history

He then decided he wants Canadian resources and now is trying to destroy our economy usingtariffs and lies and manipulating the USian mind--obviously you need to stop watching fox news btw

John Adams regretted signing the Sedition Act of 1798, which restricted press freedom. He told his son it was "never a favorite" of his. The law expired in 1801, but its legacy as a restriction on free speech endures. A history professor explains: buff.ly/6HCy4Vx

Dear station playlist. Stop screwing with my hearing. I’ve had to spend half the day fixing your stupid settings. And I have to get this show recorded before Friday.

@JamminJerry I think I finally fixed it. There’s one setting I do like and I’m going to use it. It has to do with commercials. I’m going to tell station playlist not to Crossfade those. I don’t think personally it’s necessary. That’s just in my opinion.

Hey, fellow #neurodivergent folks! Especially fellow #AuDHD folks.

Do you have a flirt radar?
I do not.
I never know when anyone is flirting with me.
Almost all the time when it does happen, someone else has to point it out to me & even then, I usually don't see/understand what they're talking about.
I do not know how to flirt either.
I am very direct. In the past, my straight forward nature has intimidated many NTs & some NDs who haven't invested much time in getting to know me better.
I'm quite friendly & engaging with almost anyone whom I find interesting & seems to share similar core values. It doesn't matter what gender, if any, they identify with either.
My straight forward friendly style seems to make many CIS guys think I'm interested in more than platonic friendship, when I am not.
If I like anyone more than just a platonic friend, I am pretty open about telling them that, directly.
If I don't say it - don't assume more than I actually say. I have this thing called, emotional maturity.

@PhoenixSerenity huh, so that explains all the problems I have had all these years. Fortunately for me, in a stroke of incredible luck that I would never be able to replicate if I had to do my life over again, I met someone who eventually agreed to marry me, so I don’t have to worry about this quite as much as when I was younger.
