The “medical exemption” is 100% police discretion. You have to prove you’re “sick enough” to mask.
Mask bans are the result of people refusing to help disabled folks normalize masking.
If more people had masked for public health, they would have been harder to ban.
We begged for solidarity.
We said we didn’t want to be left by the wayside.
We screamed about the risks of Long Covid.
We referenced ugly laws from the past.
It didn’t matter. Non disabled people wanted to go “back to normal”, and now we’re stuck fighting discriminatory bans.

It's more complex than that.
Greed & aggression, along with altruism, etc. evolved as survival tools. They're part of the human condition.
However, for ~300,000 years, egalitarian human societies were able to control excessive greed, bullying, etc. via social norms.
Even chimp societies organise to stop bad behaviour & toss out bullying leaders.
In 300,000 years of human society, which, like chimp society, managed greed, class hierarchy & mass slavery did not exist.

The 6000-yo city state bred mass slavery. This is "class" hierarchy, in the sense of permanent, racist othering.
Today's ills stem from a mere 6000 yrs of ruling classes treating entire groups as less than human.
It was the creation of patriarchy - rule, not by men, but by the old privileged men of the tribe. The fathers who know best. Who bully the younger men along with women & children.
