A long-running U.S. investigation of MS-13 has uncovered evidence at odds with Bukele’s reputation as a crime fighter. The inquiry, which began as an effort to dismantle the gang’s leadership, expanded to focus on whether the Bukele government cut a secret deal with MS-13 in the early years of his presidency.

We had a wet spring in Fort Collins, CO. Most of my xeriscape plants grew fast and lanky. The weight of all that water, and sometimes wind, laid some stems on the ground. Now summer heat has arrived. Highs of 90°F (32°C) and cloudless skies at high altitude create intense sunlight.
Aspen fleabane (Erigeron speciosus) is rated full-sun to shade. But it seems to do best in the middle. In shade at 3pm, a perky Aspen fleabane shows off its lavender petals. Another fleabane, in bright sun, has washed out petals and many drooping flower buds.

I could only stand for an hour, but there were lots of people.
Seeing the young and old standing together in defiance of injustice and cruelty was inspiring.
I couldn't help feeling emotional.
I'm glad I went, but now I can't stop coughing so Summer and I are taking the afternoon off.
I didn't take any pictures but for a small rural community it was huge.

Humboldt, like the rest of America did us proud. I feel sorry for Soros though, that must have cost him a fortune.
Good on them!! It’s greatly appreciated, the critical youth contribution.
They will require and have ably earned pie. 😊

She’s an absolutely aspirational level baker, NorCalGma. 🥧 🤘🏻
Bev bakes a memorable pie too, but today she made us a glazed tart Lemon Blueberry Cake —trying it soon. I found the swoon worthy recipe out here somewhere last week and the fresh blueberries are fantastic now. It took cream cheese, yogurt and 3 sticks of butter. With two large lemons. Nom. We’re naming it the No Kings Cake.
It looked so good she carried it down to show me. 😂
@GottaLaff
We’ll have to come out and bake you one. 💜 It’s scrumptious, has a remarkable texture and is going into the preferred cake roster. Lovely tart lemon glaze. We bake a lot. Sweet teeth. Plus we’re trying to fatten my ass up, lol. And Mom likes to do her own bread every week.
Next week’s project is homemade ice cream and frozen yogurt, gave Mom a Cuisinart machine for Morher’s Day. Ben and Jerry’s is north of 5$ a pint now. Even cows are appalled.
Oh, hon. Of course you won’t. And we need you safe, sound and continuously sage. ♥️♥️♥️ Bear hugs to Port Moody.
Nice and congratulations on your participation. I lasted the 2 hours in
Santa Rosa and loved every minute of it.

in reply to Simon Willison • • •I have a slight "unease" with the term "agent."
Not for the usual reasons, but because it encourages thinking of agents like we think of employees. Something you have a limited number of, difficult to hire/fire, can only do one task at a time etc.
A better way to think about them would be as (graphs of) ephemeral tasks / jobs, like in Celery, Sidekik and such. In this model, LLMs are essentially an autoscaling pool of compute that those tasks can always tap into.
This way of thinking gives you features like parallel sub-agents, checkpointing, crash recovery or surviving system migrations / power outages for almost free.

in reply to Mikołaj Hołysz • • •@miki I think the term "agent" is mostly unusable, because if you ask five people you'll get five different (potentially *wildly* different) interpretations, and often people will have a weird confidence that THEIR definition is the right one which everyone else shares when it isn't
In this case Anthropic opened their paper by clarifying the definition they were using ("LLMs autonomously using tools in a loop"), and I'm fine with that
