it is a protocol for file sharing:

there are lots of good free / #opensource torrent apps, like #libretorrent or #transmission.
it is a good idea to use an #opensource vpn also, like #calyxvpn or #riseupvpn.
you can then search for torrents on sites like #thepiratebay.
