We must not wait for our "leaders". It's obvious that they are not showing.

The blatant, in-your-face nakedness, vicious meanness, and fearmongering are all the point—a central aspect of fascism is its normalization, the forceful imposing of a new (threatening) normal.

Love How they Talk About Mobilizing to Chicago but are ignoring the fact we now have a new force of ICE in Boston and threats of him sending in National Guard or Marines to assist them.

And they don't seem to have a coherent plan to oppose the Fascists in Chicago either. Mobilizing just makes more victims. If they want to do something to protect people they need to get them out of harm's way so the ICE guys have no to grab.

You'd think we'd have learned from the multiple failures of the Arab Spring, but that's too much to ask for. All Trump needs to bring the Martial Law hammer down is an excuse, even if he has to make one up. Nobody should legitimize that by an actual uprising.

How were people protected in other countries in similar situations? Our early history featured an "underground railroad" to transport Free Blacks north - but no one seems to want to do anything like that now.

All Trump needs to bring the Martial Law hammer down is an excuse, even if he has to make one up. Nobody should legitimize that by an actual uprising.

A large component of what he is doing is nothing more than creating a provocation which he can then use to increase his military presence and control. We have to work around this constraint.

Joseph, you make a number of good points.

It's true that nobody can get away with today what people used to be able to get away with in yesteryear and a big reason for that is technology which is a double-edged sword. What one gets away with these days involve the "dark web" and organized crime. For that reason, although there may very well be rich people who aren't evil, it is the case that among rich people there's a lion's share of evil people who might have started out with a hoarding disorder but now need to maintain high income for the purpose of evading detection and doing more evil with impunity.

I imagine that low-level sabotage will become more common - sabotage that is both difficult to trace and maybe not worth cost of the effort.
