BookWyrm is a social network for people who enjoy books and reading. It's intended as a Fediverse alternative to Amazon's Goodreads. The official site is at:

📚 joinbookwyrm.com

There's a FediTips guide all about BookWyrm with lots of questions answered at:

BookWyrm accounts can be followed from Mastodon etc. However, you need to sign up for an account on a BookWyrm server if you want to use BookWyrm's features.

Yea that's a downer that Bookwyrm is still kinda centralized. 😒
in reply to Fedi.Tips

Oh... I stand corrected. I thought you had to sign up on the main server tho?
in reply to Fedi.Tips

@phillycodehound acutually: There is an App in the F-Droid Store. But elsewhere there is just a really good webapp
in reply to David Brent 📚

I'm not sure, sorry! It's usually quite difficult to know about all the servers on a plaform. I'd guess... 100k?

But BookWyrm accounts can be followed by Fediverse accounts outside BookWyrm so the reach can be bigger than that.

is it screenreader friendly? most of those that I've tried aren't such as fabel, storygraph and bookly
in reply to GypsySage🔮

Good question! I don't know, maybe @WeirdWriter has tried it?

@halfbakedkitcat BookWyrm is screen reader friendly. In 2017 I worked with the developer for almost a year on making improvement so it is very much screen reader friendly
in reply to Robert Kingett

@WeirdWriter can you have a reading goal on there like goodreads? also, can you import your goodreads content and kindle content cause, kindle and audible are what I use to read.
in reply to Fedi.Tips

Oh this is amazing! I just wasn't quite sure if Kindle even had the option of exporting to CSV. I have an Audible account and wish they would give us a native option to export our library listings into CSV. I use Libation to export library data but will share this page going forward! I knew about the CSV import, I just didn't know how far the CSV support went! @FediTips @halfbakedkitcat

it's a good service. I've been using it for maybe 1.5 years and haven't missed Goodreads at all.

Thank you for sharing. This is great! I dropped Goodreads right after it was acquired by Amazon and haven't been connected socially with other readers for a long time. I just registered an account at BookWyrm (@JulieReads), and look forward to exploring its options and finding & connecting to like minded readers.
