Having the right tools help a lot, I have used make shift ends in my soldering iron in the past as a wood burner. Today they have so many wonderful accessories of wood burning. Today, I am mostly into copper etching 😉 It is a lost craft and very rewarding. You can get books on etching on Project Gutenberg

They burn cables even and strip them from abandoned houses to get cash and it's not a little bit of cash these are real sums
