Confused by Israeli hasbara about how far back the term "Palestine" goes in history?
Herodotus wasn't confused
In the 5th Century BCE, he identified Palestine as the land between Phoenicia & Egypt.
And the term* was in play way back in the 2nd millennium BCE.
Mouin Rabbani demolishes the hasbara (starts at 49 min in):

Same here, I've had to make a little list...
Interesting tidbit here:
1200-1001 BCE: "During the Iron Age I period (12th-11th C BCE), the Israelite religion branched out from the Canaanite religion & formed Yahwism."
Judaism evolved later.

Since participants in intercontinental trade took place in and around the Levant, of course it's always been real estate that was highly coveted. The sons of Abraham have routinely ignored the Thou Shalt Not Covet clause of their Commandments.

Plus, you may know there is no historical-archeological evidence for an Abraham figure....

in reply to DrALJONES • •If Zionism goes back further, it's not by much. It's still a European invention that didn't get launched as a movement until it was by Herzl.

And this is a good interjection point for me to tell those who read up on this thing either way, is to pay very close attention to the copyright date on what you're reading--the more recent the writing, the more agenda-driven it's likely to be. My reliance is heavily placed on the Great War era before the launch of WWII, when the Balfour Declaration is more heavily discussed. After said Declaration, an increasing amount of rationalization for beliefs ever since becomes similarly increasingly evident.
