⚠️ Heads up - there's a #Mastodon #scam bot doing the rounds. Mastodon does not "temporarily restrict your visibility", if you see a DM or post to that affect begging you to click a link to restore anything, do not click it - report it instead.

They are trying to con people into giving their credit card details as a form of verification. Then they can drain the card of money.

The reason they're doing this is because so many sites are actually asking for this, for example Apple is now demanding all its UK users give credit card details to verify their age. This gives scammers a really good cover to do scams.

Fediverse platforms don't do this, but not everyone realises this.
